Lovely relaxing stay
Pros:

Pool, jacuzzi (and ability to use it in the evenings...so many places shut up very early), dog-friendly, lovely garden area, location-right on nice quiet beach, views, very friendly and smartly-dressed staff.

Cons:

WiFi was poor away from main reception area.

We booked a double room and stated we were bringing dogs, but were issued with a tiny stuffy room we could hardly fit the dog baskets in. However, the staff were able to issue us with a larger room (at our extra cost)

Historic hotel, near to the station, friendly staff, a lovely garden with good quality, good value wine, a sea view, com
Pros:

Historic hotel, near to the station, friendly staff, a lovely garden with good quality, good value wine, a sea view, comfortable bed, proper pillows, a hot, strong shower and a well-cooked breakfast. It can’t have changed in decades, which some might find dated but I found charming.

Can't complain as only paid £70

Only stayed one night so gard to dislike anything.

When we checked out the lady informed us that parking is half price for residents.

Cons:

They couldn’t turn off the heating. In the peak of summer, 28 degrees outside and the heating is on onside the hotel. Most uncomfortable stay couldn’t sleep at all

Great location, Excellent staff, building needs improvment.
Pros:

The high rating is entirely thanks to the exceptional hospitality of the staff. Everyone, from the reception team to waiters, Vinni * and the housekeeping staff, was professional, welcoming, and genuinely helpful throughout the stay. Their friendliness, attentiveness, and willingness to assist made a real difference and were the highlight of the experience.

Cons:

The hotel is in an excellent location, just a short walk from the train station, a small beach, and about 20 minutes walk to charming village of Cockington.

It is a beautiful old guest house full of character, with some exquisite period furniture that adds to its unique charm. The breakfast is served in a grand, elegant salon, and there was a good selection of food available. The staff were professional, attentive, and managed the property very well. The swimming pool is also a wonderful addition.

As this is a historic building, there is no air conditioning, which is understandable. However, the property has the potential to be even better with more attention to maintenance, cleanliness, and freshness. With a little more care and upkeep, it could truly recapture its former glory.

Good location but hotel needs some care and attention
Pros:

It’s in an ideal location opposite the sea.

Cons:

At the time of my visit there was a heatwave and this hotel has no air conditioning. The small room i was in was absolutely unbearable. There was no air at all. The corridors felt like they were 40degrees and the room was so uncomfortable. It was a small double room with no plugs near the bed which was an issue. I asked for fans but they had a shortage. I didn’t even know there were any hotels in the UK that didn’t have air conditioning these days! Also the hotel is very old and in need of some love and attention. It’s a beautiful hotel from the back but would benefit from a coat of paint and refresh inside.

We left, didn’t even stay the night, would not recommend.
Pros:

The location was great.

Cons:

The rooms were tiny and too hot.
It was very dated and dirty.
A view of the bins and smell was very unpleasant.
The carpets were disgusting. Avocado green bathroom suite, shower was tiny and the toilet didn’t flush.
EVERYTHING was dated and just disgusting.
Would not recommend.

Cons:

Ooo dear where do you start the pool needs a wee brush round some plants in pots would help it as guest you was not made welcome at all was told cant go through one rooom to outside due to private function so found another wee door to get out then on return through that door was greeted by another private function which made me feel very uncomfortable the hotel is like faulty towers there is crap everywere and so old makes you feel old the room stunk of smoke and was very hot no fans available so could not sleep but was not able to sleep anyway as matttress was all springs and there was water flowing outside constantly which made this whole experience a total victorian nightmare if you like faulty towers this is the place for you p.s 10 pound a pint and water £5.50 for big bottle total rip off.
