A beautiful place, the most beautiful place we stayed in Sri Lanka

A wonderful garden. The owners are very nice and helpful. The rooms are very clean, with hot water. I highly recommend it!

The property was beautiful, clean, comfortable and peaceful - a little haven. The garden is amazing - you can see how much care has gone into it!

Der große Bungalow ist gemütlich eingerichtet. Es gibt heißes Wasser und sowohl AC als auch einen Ventilator im Zimmer. Moskitonetz über jedem Bett. Die Gastgeber sind super freundlich und das Essen, vor allem das Abendessen ist extrem lecker.

Piękny ogród, pyszne jedzenie, wysoki standard, bardzo miłe przyjęcie. To był mój drugi pobyt na Sri Lance i zdecydowanie najlepszy nocleg spośród wszystkich dotychczasowych. Żałuję że byliśmy tam tylko jedną noc.

Je recommande vivement ce logement. J’y ai passé seulement une nuit mais c’était parfait. Il y a tout ce qu’il faut, la chambre est grande et confortable, le jardin est très beau. De plus les hôtes ont été absolument adorables j’ai beaucoup aimé l’échange que nous avons eu, notamment concernant le jardin. Merci beaucoup pour votre accueil

We will forever cherish the memories we made at the green paradise cottage! The whole family was so caring and welcoming. They truly represent Sri Lankan hospitality. Our sons played together, laughed, ran, swam in the river although they didn’t speak the same language. They took turns offering to hold our baby to allow us to eat or shower or just get ready. We immediately felt at home.
The room was spacious, a crib was provided for our baby, there was an AC and mosquito nets.
The garden is so lush and peaceful.
The food was delicious (we had both breakfast and dinner here)
The safari they organized for us was incredible. The cottage is about 20 min away from the park entry. We saw so many elephants and our guide Pasindu was knowledgeable, drove safely, helped us set up both our kids with their car seats in the jeep, and was genuinely nice. We are so happy we chose to come here instead of way too popular Yala. There weren’t many jeeps and everyone was respectful of the animals, something that was very important to us.

We highly recommend staying here and hope we get to one day revisit Sandaru, Yenul and their family ❤️

The Green Paradise Cottage is an outstanding place. It's wonderful what the owner family has created here, all family members are involved in the project. A green oasis and very, very tasty food. The stay was perfect for us with two small children. So far there is one bungalow, wonderfully furnished with everything you need.

Hele lieve familie die alles voor je wilt regelen. Het eten bij de familie is ook heerlijk en elke maaltijd weer anders. Ook de tuin is fantastisch, heerlijk groen en ze kunnen je er van alles over vertellen. En vlakbij kun je een heerlijke duik nemen in de rivier terwijl de aapjes vanuit de bomen kijken. Echt even lekker bij komen :).
De tour is een aanrader, goede prijs via hun en leuke ervaren gids.

TODO, la familia que lo lleva, lo limpio y cómodo que estaba todo, aire acondicionado y wifi que funcionaba perfectamente. La comida que nos preparó Sandaru para cenar típica del país estaba deliciosa, tienen que probarla! Además de como tanto ella como Lahiru nos ayudaron con el safari a Udawalawe y nos contaron muchas cosas sobre su cultura. Tienen un jardín precioso y el lugar tiene magia. Ojalá tengas la suerte de poder alojarte aquí alguna vez en tu vida.

Our stay at Green Paradise Cottage Udawalawa was absolutely unforgettable! If you’re visiting Udawalawe National Park, this is hands-down the perfect place to stay.

The location is peaceful and surrounded by lush greenery-just a few minutes from the park entrance, making it the ideal base for a true wildlife adventure. We went on a 7-hour safari, and it was the absolute highlight of our trip! It included a delicious free lunch, and we saw elephants, buffalo, crocodiles, peacocks, eagles, and much more. The safari driver was outstanding-friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about nature. We felt safe, informed, and fully immersed in the experience.

A huge thank you to the owner, Lahiru, who is incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful. He arranged everything for us with great care, and his warm hospitality truly made us feel at home.

The cottage itself is clean, cozy, and surrounded by nature-the perfect place to relax and reconnect with the environment. There’s even a beautiful river nearby, where I enjoyed a refreshing swim. That peaceful moment in nature is something I’ll never forget.

We also loved the authentic Sri Lankan meals served at the property-homecooked, fresh, and bursting with flavour. Every meal felt special.

This isn’t just a place to sleep-it’s a complete experience.
Nature, comfort, adventure, and genuine hospitality all in one.
Highly recommended to anyone visiting Udawalawe. You’ll leave with memories for a lifetime!

Our stay with Lahiru & Sandaru was amazing! We were really made to feel like part of the family during our time at the Green Paradise Cottage.

Lahiru arranged our safari trip for a very good price and our guide Pasindu was brilliant, very knowledgeable and a fun guy to spend a day with! We saw many elephants, birds, monkeys, mongeese, golden jackals and crocs! Highlight of our trip to Sri Lanka.

Sandaru is an amazing cook and the food was plentiful and high quality, the best traditional cooking we experienced over our time in Sri.

The cottage is set in a beautiful garden full of fruit and spice & there is a gorgeous river running behind the property, the name definitely suits!

Highly recommended and would love to return someday.

Location was amazing it was just meters away from this big river that you could jump in if you like. We booked this accommodation for 2 nights we liked it so much and booked another night. You get this whole cabana and the property to yourself which was amazing and private. Food was really good and they accommodate any food requests as well.

They organised a safari we ended seeing no elephants to been covered by a whole herd of elephants almost seeing a pair “mate”😆

Overall it was an amazing experience in Udawalawa and thank you Lahiru for having us!

Everything was great! A lovely little cottage in a beautiful little jungle garden. The family that ran it were exceptionally friendly and couldn’t be anymore helpful. Loved having them share their knowledge of all the spices and fruits growing in their paradise! Highly recommended. ☺️

This cottage had the most amazing garden, was such a beautiful and relaxing place to stay. Kusumsiri spent over 5 years growing this magnificent jungle garden which was one of the many highlights of staying here. Dinner and breakfast, made by Pushpa, were truly delicious, some of the best Sri Lankan food we had on our trip, and in our lives! Pasindu took us on such a wonderful safari. We were so lucky to see so many wild animals, especially the elephants, young and old. Him and his wife Malitui are both talented spotters of all creatures. They made our safari experience truly special. Lahiru showed us around the garden and answered all our questions about plants, food and life! The room is also fantastic! Very comfortable and had everything we needed, like a boutique hotel.

We wish we had the time to stay longer and will return in the future. 100% recommend to anyone and everyone!

What a wonderful place to stay. Even better than the photos. The room was pristine and well equipped, with WiFi, AC, hot showers, mosquito nets and comfortable beds. The hosts were super friendly and welcoming and spoke very good English.

The garden is beautiful and immaculately maintained, it really was a green paradise.

The food was delicious, we tasted lots of different traditional Sri Lankan dishes with generous portions provided. The aubergine curry was a particular highlight.

Highly recommend booking your Safari through the hosts, we did and it was a treat. Our guide was fantastic and he joyfully shared his knowledge and passion for animals with us. We saw lots of Elephants including babies and many other animals and birds, which we think was only possible due to his local knowledge.
