Beautiful location near the water. There was a nice bed, but it had a plastic sheet on the mattress
The owner hid a $15 USD "pet fee" in the taxes and fees section so the price looked cheaper than it was. I didn't notice because I was in a rush when I booked it. I told him I don't have a pet and asked why I needed to pay it, but he just made up an excuse trying to imply that it was because of taxes and said that's the way it was.
I would have left but it was dark and I didn't have anywhere else to go, so I just had to pay it.
The shower was loosely held together with electrical tape and started spurting water through the pipe in all directions, so I needed to use my towel to clean the water up. The sink had barely a trickle of water, making it difficult to wash my hands. The toilet didn't flush properly, leading to a bad smell in the room.
The beautiful place at the beach, the staff they were all so kind and helpfull.
The boattrip to the beaches was so nice. Snorkling was beautifull. And Alonso (owner) promised us we would see monkeys and he kept his promiss! 😉
Breakfast was awesome and the place was very nice, clean and the people that work at the Hotel were very friendly i was also able to go on the boat ride to Isla Hurta, what an amazing place.
The view, the 1 staff lady was very nice
Old musty rooms, awful uncomfortable beds,
Water went on and off.
Worst night sleep I’ve ever had. Dangerous drive way
The bar
Room and Chef in Restaurant burnt food
The deck overlooking water.
Distance from town of Portobelo is 3.1KM. (not 2KM as mentioned in the ad). Tarped roof an indication of structural failure. No soap anywhere in the bathroom. No bed sheet to cover. Air conditioner failed, had to use an extension cord to get it going until the issue was corrected. Street/vehicular noise. The breakfast was a joke - order anything but you get egg and totillas. Unable to uncover or open the window for fresh air. Bathroom was not clean. A table lamp without a bulb in it? Shower head is at a height of 5 feet, I am 5' 11"
Great breakfast i love it
The owner is new and he did try to right problems we had. The mattress on one bed was too soft and he had a new one brought in within 2 hours. The TV wasn't working and the staff was able to correct it. The complimentary breakfast was supposed to start at 8AM but the chef didn't show until 9:30AM after they tried every which way to contact him.
The owner is new and really trying but the place needs alot of attention. There's a dock with a beautiful view but the dock is falling apart. The rooms are clean and have lots of fish on the walls but there's only a few places to put your things. A piece of the roof fell while I was sitting before the door of my room. I wouldn't avoid the place but understand it's no more than a one star hotel at this point...but the owner is trying to improve it.
The place is amazing, room service took care of me every day, I wish I could of stay longer, the chef at the restaurant make sure to have all my meals on time.
Beside that the manager explained that they been in business for 8 month's, is hard to believe because everything was on point.
I wish I could stay longer
Breakfast was excellent.
no water for periods of time
We traveleld with two 85+ seniors. The team was fantastic in accomodating them (at the restaurant they even went the extra mile by preparing an off menu salt free soup every night!!!). The room was comfortable and they enjoyed it by themselves. The breakfast selection and menus are great and in general the food is excellent. We booked for three nights and ended up staying six. We did not want to leave our parents alone so we did not take the boats to the beaches, but after asking Eddie at the restaurant about quiet beaches we could go with seniors, not only he gave us detailed instructions, but also all of them were top recommendations and a short drive (from 15' to 45') from the hotel. NOTE: They are not advertised... they are just the beaches local familes use. The hidden one at Cacique (just a 300m walk through the woods) has nothing to envy to any top beach. Simply fantastic. Thank you for sharing.
As a bonus, spending the evening with a cold one at the dock was a great way to end each day.
In general, the beaches are muddy in the Portobello area so the swimming is not great. However, the boats to the top beaches will pick you up at the dock, or you can drive to other beaches and return to enjoy dinner and spend the night in a quiet and relaxing place.
The views were stunning and the breakfast was delicious.
The staff was friendly and welcoming.
Airconditioning was a bit noisy.
