In Kelso, the Queenshead is the place to stay!
Pros:

We received a warm, personal welcome and all the staff were friendly and super helpful. The bed was really comfortable and the room was very spacious and clean. The breakfast was sensational. We also had dinner in the restaurant and enjoyed some drinks at the bar. It was a terrific stay and we look forward to returning.

Cons:

Nothing. We recommend the Queenshead Hotel as a great place to stay!

Comfortable stay in a hotel with character
Pros:

We spent two nights and loved the character of this place, breakfast was excellent and the staff friendly.

Cons:

We stayed on the top floor so water pressure wasn't great, the toilet was noisy when filling but that's to be expected and didn't detract from our overall enjoyment of the place.

Great wee spot for a day or two in Kelso.

Ideally situated right in the heart of town, close to all amenities

Cons:

Clean, comfortable room with supportive and comfortable beds. Great service and tasty food in the restaurant and in the bar. Friendly and professional staff

Nice enough, customer service training for certain staff.
Pros:

The bedroom was ok apart from the only view out of the window was a wall that was quite close (Room 6) and gave it a claustrophobic feel. Bed was comfy and shower good. Breakfast was excellent on both days and lovely cheerful staff that attended to us, a lovely start to the day. The first night meal in the restaurant was excellent, great service.

Cons:

The second night we had table booked for 8pm but got back early at 6pm and asked if we could move it forward, told it was very busy and not possible, fair enough. We went out and got a call saying if we were happy with a booth in the bar they could do 7pm. Returned, seated at booth and told they would fetch menu's. That was it for over half an hour, nothing. May as well stayed with the 8pm booking. Talked to a member of staff behind bar who was very indifferent with her attitude and said it was busy, wife went up a little later and as she turned around the same member of staff smirked towards a person at the bar and shrugged her shoulders. Very poor service from those staff which let the hotel down. We went elsewhere.

Good as ever, bar the issue cited above.

Homely feel, always a nice pub/hotel when we stay

Cons:

A table of 6 was reserved for us at 7.30pm, for food. Arrived back from races a shade after 7.30pm to find table had been given away and the barman was rather rude and dismissive of this…not to me, rather the person who had booked it. Not good customer service and rather rude.
