Comfortable and great location!
Great location. Right by the park. Walkable to a bunch of fun restaurants and bars. A little bit of tight quarters..you have to shuffle sideways between the end of the bed and wall on your way to the bathroom.
Overall the property was in nice shape, the communication was quick and consistent.
Convenient to highways and culinary.
WiFi had constant issues and there was only luke warm shower water at 7am each morning
Need chairs on the patio. Otherwise it was nice and quiet. Great neighborhood
Holly House was a very wonderful stay. the only hiccup experience was with the window curtain falling but the responsiveness of this issue was great and prompt
I had an amazing stay at this location, it exceeded my expectations. It’s located close enough to downtown and yet not square in the middle of the city. I took a great walk down to a park that is a few blocks away through a very peaceful neighborhood with many food options located relatively close.
I would certainly come back next time I am in Austin!
We were in town for a week for business. It was great to have a place that seemed more like an apartment then a hotel room.
Pretty place in a quiet location, well lit and comfortable. Having the little vinyl corner was a nice bit of nostalgia.
Everything was clean and well maintained except for the shower, where the handle was broken and you had to fiddle with it for a few minutes to get a decent water temperature. They were aware of the problem from before my arrival and send me a number of messages saying a plumber would be there soon, but it wasn't fixed during my three days there. Seems like they're a new operation, so hopefully they'll settle down; I'd be willing to try them again next I'm in Austin.
I hadn't stayed in a loft before, and next time might try the single-floor versions. If you wake up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, you have to go down a very long flight of stairs, which I found a bit menacing.
Pros: seamless check-in and check-out with no keycards or reception. Responsive, accommodating, and friendly staff. Only 20 min from the airport and a brisk but manageable walk from shopping and restaurants. Very clean.
Cons: extremely low water pressure and lukewarm water (at best) in the shower that takes a good 5 minutes of wasted water. Washing your hair is a gamble: rinsing takes forever and you don't know if the water will stay warm enough. I wish there was a water filter in the kitchen or fridge because the tap water is drinkable but not great. And there's no recycling, only trash, as far as I can tell.
My co-travelers also reported issues with their showers (broken handle and repeated visits from the handyman) so the plumbing seems a little sus.
The location is on the edge of sketchy. I didn't feel unsafe during the day but I can imagine women would think twice about walking around after dark.
The area is walkable but there are barely any sidewalks anywhere. Maybe it's an Austin thing?
Cute lil chipotle apartment in a great area close to downtown and walking distance to cute shops and restaurants. The furniture is your standard mdf so it has a few chips in it. Also there’s like a rubber lining on the mattress and pillows that made them hot to sleep on. And the a/c shuts itself off every 4 hours. Not like when it reaches temp, but like OFF off. Still for the price point it’s great.
Holly House was perfect for my week long stay. It was quiet, clean, safe, and had covered parking. I look forward to staying there again!!!
Great property for easy access to downtown! Walkable to Rainey St and Lady bird.
Close and convenient to downtown.
Close to downtown, close to the lake, quiet and responsive hosts.
The following review has nothing to do with Expedia, Expedia did everything they could to assist and did a great job. The absolute worst part about this was the communication from the vacation rental company. This was advertised as a room, not directly as a vacation rental property. I wanted a hotel room, and when I arrived both of the billboard and guest services number on the door Where for businesses that were completely unrelated to the property. I cannot recommend this property for reasons of non-Expedia related communication alone.
Great spot, great stay
What drew me to this property was the unique appeal of getting an entire two-story loft instead of a single hotel room to rent. Not only that, but it was also in a pretty accessible and walkable part of downtown and at a decently affordable price.
When I showed up at the property, I was unsure of what I was supposed to do because the property never sent me instructions for how to access my unit. I had to call them in order for them to send the instructions to my e-mail. The walk up along the hallway showed a lot of trash outside my unit specifically that was never cleaned up during my stay. When I walked in, the unit had a rank odor to it. I got used to it during my stay, but the smell was initially off-putting to say the least.
I received a message at some point early on into my stay from management asking if there's anything about the unit that would make me not want to give the property 5 stars in a review. I said yes there was one issue and it was with the upstairs bed. The bedframe was broken in the middle and no matter what position you laid in, you'd eventually get sucked into the center of the bed with no support. With two people sleeping on it, it became extremely uncomfortable as both people got pulled into this pit and I woke up with back pain every morning before deciding to just sleep on the couch. The next time I heard from management was when they billed me for stained towels/comforter.
Hard to recommend with the issues I faced but there were upsides.
Holly House is in a quiet section of East Austin and yet is a short stroll away from a fun and bustling area around East 6th Street. It’s also really close to some very cool old school bars/music halls like The White Horse and The Scoot Inn. We loved our spot!
