Location, atmosphere and comfortable room
Very costly restaurant, where staff was most likely instructed to make sure they could do two rounds. For little choice in the menu and a bill of PSt 250 for 2 persons, it is a shame that good food and wine must be swalloed one after the other. Staff was constantly asking if we were ready and pushing us to rush.
Breakfast & dinner
Room was a bit basic
Quirky place to stay ( we were in the old mil house) it's quite sparse of soft furnishings and the kitchen is as not really a kitchen but a sink and access to a kettle ( no fridge) breakfast was very good
Down a dark garden path which was a bit spooky and the waterfall
Is quite noisy
The house rented is just beside a waterfall!
Historical property, nicely decorated with original characters
Staff are very friendly
Door lock was not working at the beginning but fixed quickly by staff
Basement is a bit cold, portable heater a bit noisy, but upstairs is too warm
Suggest to have a booklet to describe the history of the house and the beautiful items in he house
Can include a house layout picture to ease the understanding of the house
Excellent. Staff were friendly and accommodating
I don’t think we got to spend enough time exploring the grounds but the hotel itself is well appointed for a property of its age. The bar area is relaxing with a number of gins and whiskeys on offer. The food was amazing, they have a brilliant chef!
We didn’t know at the time of booking that we weren’t staying in the main hotel but had been offered a room in the ‘Millers Cottage’. Although very cute the walk to the main hotel wasn’t well lit so take a torch! Also, the room above us was occupied and although they weren’t throwing a party you could hear every footstep and conversation. Not the greatest night sleep!
The location was fantastic… the food excellent… friendly staff.. great overall
There was an issue with no hot water but I’m sure it was just a glitch not a permanent problem
Staff were very nice and helpful. Nice traditional ambiance to the old house. The garden areas and walkways to river and beach. The evening meal and breakfast were both excellent.
Only evening meal options were a 7 course taster menu and a 3 course menu. As Forss House is remote and you would have to drive to Thurso for any other dining option it would have been nice just to have some main course only options.
La rivière au pied de l'hôtel, le cadre manoir et le personnel
Beaucoup de corbeaux sur le site
Forss House was a great stop off as we travelled the NC500. The staff were all lovely and accommodating.
We enjoyed having a drink in the bar and looking out over the grounds.
We also chose to have dinner which was really nice.
We felt our room needed a little bit of a freshen up. There were quite a few scuffs and paint chips and just didn't give it the feel we expected from the photos seen online.
We also had a broken shower, however this didn't impact our stay.
Quiet, peaceful and comfortable. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. We had a garden room and the natural life was amazing!
We didn’t eat in the property as we felt it was expensive. A choice of a none 3 course meal would have been better. The NC500 can be very tiring and Often you just want to eat and sleep.
Was comfortable and pretty
