Extremely Misleading and Not Worth the Rating
Cons:

The hotel and its reviews were completely misleading. In my opinion, this property should not even qualify for a 1-star rating. The condition of the hotel was far below expectations, with a strong odor, extremely outdated furnishings that looked decades old, broken furniture, and bedding that felt more like a low-quality motel than a hotel. The overall cleanliness standards were questionable and made for a very uncomfortable stay.

Upon arrival, I immediately requested to cancel my reservation due to the condition of the property, yet I was still charged for the first night. I ultimately chose to leave and book another hotel. This was a very disappointing experience, and I would not recommend this property to other travelers.

A Stay Defined by Kindness and Integrity

After our time in Cappadocia, returning to Kumru Hotel felt like coming back to familiar faces. We had enjoyed our first stay so much that choosing to return was an easy decision, and we were genuinely happy to see Ferit again when we arrived.

This time, we were given a spacious room on the top floor with a beautiful view of the Sea of Marmara. The room was clean, comfortable, and exactly what we needed after long summer days. The air conditioning was ice-cold, which made coming back to the room each evening even more enjoyable.

What truly makes Kumru Hotel special is Ferit. His kindness, warmth, and genuine care for his guests are what set this hotel apart. From the moment we arrived, he made us feel welcome, always taking the time to answer questions, share a conversation, and make sure everything was just right. It’s rare to meet someone who naturally makes people feel at home.

One thing that especially stood out was the team’s honesty and integrity. On our very first night in Istanbul, I accidentally paid both the hotel and the driver for our airport transfer. The driver immediately informed the front desk, and the hotel promptly refunded the duplicate payment without me ever having to ask. That kind of integrity says everything about the character of the people who work here.

The rest of the staff were equally welcoming, creating an atmosphere that felt genuine and personal throughout our stay. It wasn’t just a place to stay—it was a place where we felt genuinely cared for.

Thank you, Ferit, and the entire Kumru Hotel team, for another wonderful stay. We will gladly recommend Kumru Hotel to anyone visiting Istanbul
