Close to my daughter’s place. It had a kitchen.
The fridge didn’t work and we had to throw out food. There was no bedding for the second bed. The toaster didn’t work. The couch was very old and stained. We placed a blanket on it but the blanket had large holes. The architecture of the building was nice, but nothing has been updated. What they call “charm” I call lack of effort. The kitchen supplies and linens were obviously thrift store finds. There were people sleeping in the “on-site” parking.
Location is great. Free parking too.
Bed was terrible. Squeaky floors, smells in hallways
The location and the Hotel is very unique
We were so hopeful of a historic experience given the age of this building but unfortunately it in no way lived up to our expectations. Sadly the building and its furnishings have been allowed to deteriorate to a point where it feels more condemned than authentic. The furniture is worn to the point that it has tears in the upholstery and is in need of either replacement or restoration. The flooring (rugs) needs a deep clean as do the kitchen and the bathroom and pretty much all surfaces. The bed needs replacing and the towels need updating so they don’t feel like you are using something that you would use when washing your dog. The place just felt dirty.
With some honest care and appropriate upgrading this could truly be a magnificent old building.
Having said that you cannot change the location.
Being right next to the skytrain was extremely loud but to be fair we knew that when we booked.
The most troubling and heartbreaking thing for us was the unbelievable amount of homeless people at both the front and rear entrances to the property. I know this is in no way the fault of this property but it made for an uncomfortable experience when there was drug paraphernalia laying in front of the doorway. At least have it removed for the health and safety of your customers.
As much as we loved the idea of living in such a historic place we left after 1 night of a 2 night booking and found somewhere else to stay.
Location was convenient for us. Big rooms.
This is a very outdated hotel.Rarely a person in reception. The bathroom was really not ok. Bit dirty and no stopper for the water. Never cleaned the room, never made a bed. Despite telling in advance that the guests are elderly and come for medical reasons (small OP), they were given a very noisy room. Directly by the train.
It felt like living in the area, with a dash of 1900s flair
The gate for the parking lot was a gamble. I was pretty lucky it was open the same day I checked out.
Bare in mind: I'm lucky they let me use it at all since overnight parking in nearby lots expire at 6AM
Close to skytrain, restaurants etc. Everything was clean and comfortable.
There could have been more plug-ins (outlets) and more available parking.
Location. Comfort interesting decor
Kitchen needed alittle more detail to cleaning and unfortunately, the skytrain was loud and kept me awake a lot during the night, even with earplugs, but it was a comfortable place to stay
Nothing
Everything
Very unique experience! Will definitely stay again. It’s by no means fancy or posh but what a lovely place to stay. We love old buildings and architecture and found it so fun just looking around at everything.
Prima Location. Gut gelegen. Viel Platz. Volle Küche.
Allgemeiner Zustand. Lärm durch Skytrain.
L'aspect rustique, près du centre-ville et du trottoir près de la rivière.
Le bruit incessant des trains "expo line" près de notre fenêtre. Les murs étant très minces et mal isolés, c'était très bruyant...
Love the vintage and authentic old charm of Arundel. If you like a blast from the past it’s great. Beds are comfy. I love the old school vibe
Sky train is loud
The staff were friendly and shared the history of the building which added to the charm. The room was funky with cool artwork and an old world style feel. It was nice a close to the Sky Train station to be able to get around town.
The noise from the Sky Train was not too bad and thank you didn't impact our sleep with earplugs. We had questions about the security of the parking but everything was fine for our one night stay.
