Arundel Mansions Hotel

The room was not warm. The lighting was poor. Could not get my office work because of the lighting. Could not take a shower due to the tub being too high to get into. I need hip surgery and could not take the chance of climbing in the shower. It was not accessible. The stairs in the building created problems with my hips.

Not thoroughly clean and lacking basic amenities. So bedding, floors, and essentials were clean but it was obvious they hadn't deep cleaned in a long time: grease on cupboard handles, grimy pocket doors, tub wouldn't drain, walls stained, etc. No coffee maker or kettle despite it supposedly being a full kitchen and the sheets for the pullout couch were a size too small. We definitely washed cutlery and cups before using

The shower didn't work so we weren't able to have a shower and there was no plug in order for us to have a bath. So in the morning we couldn't have any way to wash ourselves

In der Umgebung des Hotels gibt es Anlaufstellen für Drogenabhängige und dementsprechend trift man sie auch auf den Straßen an. Wir wurden jedoch nie belästigt und haben uns nie unsicher gefühlt.

This hotel is situated right next to the SkyTrain station which goes by this hotel at least every 5 to 10 minutes and I think stops running at 1:00 or 2:00 in the morning. The windows need to be changed to be soundproof and that would solve that problem because it is a old hotel. The floors are extremely squeaky. But it was unique overall. The curtains needed to be cleaned the fan was full of dust . It needs a good dusting I should say needed to be done but it was clean overall

The hotel is located in a not so great part of Vancouver. We were hearing transients yelling all throughout the night. There were also transients acting sketchy just outside the the dedicated parking lot. Due to needing to get out of your vehicle to open the gate, it felt very unsafe to be out of my vehicle with those people around.
There was a previously unknown city rail line that runs RIGHT OUTSIDE the living room. It ran every five minutes creating a loud disturbance until about 0200-0300, then picked back up around 0500-0600.
There was also a train line a couple blocks down the road resulting in the "ding ding ding" of road stops as trains went by a couple times.

The building is literally right next to the elevated tracks for the light rail. The trains run approx. every 2 minutes all day and most of the night. It was impossible to sleep with this continuous noise. Bring ear plugs if you choose this hotel.

Overall very very spacious and tidy rooms. It was a functional kitchen. And as someone said full of character.
Water kettle could have been cleaner as it has sticky oil over the top.
Parking could have been more secure as at the moment its just a door that you'll have to manually open and close getting out of the car but as you might have guessed by now I am a complainer..
I know you cant do much about the sketchy people around the area or open drug use but I wish there was an easy way.
Check in open till only 7pm and so was I reminded of that
I am not sure where would a guest end up being if they are late. I somehow managed to make it around 630 and the attendant explained everything well but in a huge hurry.
If by any chance there is way to make the windows sound proof that'll do wonders to the stay because right now I can hear every bit of noise from the SkyTrain. I am not as noise sensitive but I can imagine people not being able to sleep who are.

The hotel is falling apart and not well maintained. The wall paper in the room was torn and ratty. The rug was absolutely filthy. The bed had parts and pieces coming off of it. The staff is impossible to reach by telephone. There is no way to leave a message.
