The range and quality of food on offer at Alai is excellent. Locals will enjoy traditional Sri Lankan dishes, while those from overseas will find a selection of dishes catering to a wide range of tastes. Rooms are spacious, private and conveniently located close to the restaurant and pool area. Staff are focused on delivering a high level of customer service. They are happy to accommodate most requests to ensure guests are comfortable during their stay. Within walking distance of Mullaitivu town centre.
Due to the property's close proximity to the ocean, it has prematurely suffered from the harsh effects of salt and sand blasting winds. The accommodation's exterior is in need of some minor maintenance to ensure their star rating accurately reflects guests expectations. The swimming pool also has little protection from sand laden coastal winds. This results in a daily battle for staff to maintain the pool to a high level of cleanliness. I feel this is more a site issue rather than a reflection of poor maintenance.
Sehr saubere und gut eingerichtete Zimmer. Der Strand ist direkt an das Resort angebunden. Das Personal ist sehr hilfsbereit und nett, man hat sich sehr willkommen gefühlt.
Auch bei der Abfahrt hat der Manager persönlich mitgeholfen die Fahrt zu organisieren bzw. er hat einen Fahrer für uns gebucht weil Uber nicht funktionierte.
Alles in allem sehr zu empfehlen.

The food was amazing and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The location is beautiful and close to the beach.
The water pressure in the shower was bad and even though it was very clean some parts of the hotel looked a bit old and shabby.
Der Strand war echt schön und fast einsam. Das essen war gut und die Unterkünfte gemütlich eingerichtet.

A very nice hotel with good cottages in a wonderful garden. And very tasty food and breakfast at the restaurant. A natural beach.

The swimming pool is nice but the water is not clean. That’s a pity
Don amd his staff were all extremely attentive and kind. The restaurant was particularly lovely with very affordable fresh juices, fruit salads, delicious curries and fresh fish dishes
The hotel is located in a still very undeveloped area of the East Coast and has access to a beautiful beach which all adds to it’s charm but being so isolated from other tourist areas can at times feel uneasy. The grounds are beautiful kept and cabins shady and well appointed with fourposter beds and we loved the ‘beach club bar’ for sea views, but the pool, which was a good size, shady and lots of shallow area suitable for young children was murky. Maybe more regular cleaning of pool water would be good. There was no obvious sunny space to relax on a lounger by pool or space to put loungers where you most need them. Especially given one didn’t always feel comfortable as a westerner lying on beach. However these are minor points and overall we had a very memorable experience.
Brilliant hotel, great room, friendly attentive staff, great beach all to ourselves and interesting area and history.
We really hope tourism returns to this area, Mullaitivu has had a tough past and the people and area could do with a boost.
We would return tomorrow and would have stayed longer if we could.

Materasso logoro, piscina sporca, animali che entravano continuamente dal bagno, getto dell’acqua della doccia basso….boiler che perdeva acqua… spiaggia davanti abbastanza brutta… non è per niente come nelle foto… siamo andati via prima
Le stanze sono molto spaziose e pulite. Tutto il personale è stato estremamente cordiale e disponibile, dall'arrivo fino al momento del check out. Il ristorante è molto buono e a buon prezzo. La spiaggia davanti all'albergo è molto bella e tranquilla (non ci sono servizi ma questo la rende estremamente tranquilla)
La struttura avrebbe forse bisogno di più mantenimento. Il personale si impegna per mantenerla al meglio, ma si vede che l'albergo è un po' datato.
Absolutely Incredible Stay!
First and foremost, the staff were the heart of our amazing experience. They were incredibly friendly, attentive. The private beach was an absolute gem—clean, well-maintained, and wonderfully peaceful. Thanks to this fantastic hotel, we had the most amazing holiday ever. The combination of stellar service, delicious food, stunning views, and a pristine beach made it a dream getaway.
It was near a beautiful beach
The tv and the wifi were not working. The water in the room from the bottles didn't smell oke. The water in the pool looked not clean.
The weather in the restaurant was a bit pussy about what I had to order. The lights in the room are so bright, you need sunglasses.We didn't feel very welcome.
