The location, the entrance is beautiful
That we had to pay £40 to access the spa, but I had booked a spa for myself so I didn’t have to pay £40
Good facilities/spa. Great new bath robes and toiletries. Good continental breakfast selection.
The bed needs better pillows. Staff need to be more attentive (especially at check in) The toilet paper is very cheap. It would be nice to have relaxing music all around the spa, including the upstairs/outside pool. Long occasions with just silence. Cooked breakfast portions are very small.
Everything
The room was lovely
The staff were rude
The room was exceptional.
Couldn’t use the facilities without paying. So in reality it was £40 per person to go swimming and use the sauna fora few hrs.
Other spas we go regularly you don’t pay for them you pay for a massage etc.
also I asked about early check in and that was £180 for 2 hrs early. Thats just day light robbery. Between £10 & £20 a hr is normal .
No perking and the service they provide is £30 again a rip off.
Doubt I’d go back. I’ll stick to the mill in Chester and modershall oak.
Kitchen staff
You’ll get a stronger and safer review if you keep it factual, specific, and evidence-based rather than sounding purely angry. That makes it more credible to readers and harder for the hotel to dismiss.
Here’s a polished version for Trustpilot / Google / the hotel website:
Extremely disappointing experience at Buxton Crescent and one of the worst hotel service experiences I’ve had despite travelling extensively around the world.
We booked two rooms costing around £3,000 in total, yet the level of professionalism and organisation was shockingly poor throughout.
The biggest issue was the checkout and billing process. The invoice and bill presented at checkout were a complete mess, with apparent overcharges amounting to hundreds of pounds. It took nearly an hour to go through the charges because the figures simply did not add up correctly. I strongly recommend that every guest checks their final bill very carefully rather than assuming the charges are accurate.
To make matters worse, more than a week after checkout, and after over six separate follow-up messages, I still have not received even a basic copy of the final invoice despite being repeatedly promised that it would be emailed to me.
The reception experience was consistently poor:
* Francesca at the initial checkout was rude and dismissive during the billing dispute.
* The reception manager handling the matter on 4 May was also extremely unhelpful, disorganised, and unable to properly explain the charges.
* Reception calls frequently went unanswered when calling externally.
* Even internal calls from the hotel room were inconsistent.
* Communication through Booking.com messages was slow, careless, and at times completely ignored.
The only positive part of the stay was the kitchen staff, who were polite and professional.
Beautiful spacious room, very comfortable bed, massive bathroom.
Hairdryer wasn’t working but luckily I’d brought me own
Lovely central accommodation. The room was a great size and was beautifully decorated. The staff were very helpful.
The quality of the breakfast was just ok, the hotel needs to consider using better quality local ingredients.
I would have also liked a wider range of choices for breakfast.
I also found the bed somewhat uncomfortable after a couple of nights sleep.
