Location is excellent, good atmosphere and staff
The owners really made our stay superb. They we extremely friendly and helpful. My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay
Minor negative is the hotel doesn't have a carpark. Therefore we needed to park in Monmouth pay and displays. There's one very close to the hotel and is free between 1800 & 0800. So we only ever had to pay for a few hours a day.

Good location in the centre of Monmouth. This is an old historic hotel so shows it's age in places. Room was clean and comfortable and serves decent bar meals and breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff

The hotel is in a great location in the heart of Monmouth. It combines olde worlde charm with modern conveniences. The bed was very comfortable and the staff were very welcoming.
The hotel doesn't have its own car park. At the nearest public car park, which is very close, we had difficulty working out how to pay for parking from 8 am the following morning.
Really enjoyed our 1 night stay, lovely friendly staff and 1st class breakfast in this historic old pub

It would’ve been nice to have an option of a continental style breakfast (fruit salad,croissants etc) as I never eat a cooked breakfast.
Really nice stay - the hotel is very central, the bed was comfy and it was lovely having a bath in the room. Food was decent and reasonably priced as well. Staff were friendly too.
I stayed for 3 nights - it would have been nice for the room to be cleaned and drinks/biscuits replenished maybe once during my stay (I could understand if I was just staying for 1-2 nights though).
There’s also no parking (or e.g. visitor permits) provided, which is then an expense/logistic to factor in if you’re travelling by car.
We were delighted to find a fridge in the room. In spite of being told they did not have decaffeinated coffee, there were sachets in the room. The housekeeper had already given us more than the usual amount of supplies as we stayed more than one night, and she was happy to top them up as necessary. The bed was huge and comfortable.
Having the towel rail next to the loo was a nuisance. It looks like the planned layout was different, but there was a snag.

I liked the staff, and the bed was really comfy
The room felt a little small, and the bathroom a little tired.
Our room was cute and cosy, I liked the decor and colours the room was decorated in. Felt homely. Bed was very comfortable, I even took a photo of the mattress make so I could look up the brand. A good night’s sleep. Excellent central location which is why we chose to stay in the first place. Couldn’t fault the staff, they were happy and helpful.
The cleanliness of our room definitely wasn’t up to scratch. The room itself was ok but the bathroom needs some serious work. The shower wash pump was broken and just left on top of the bottle, the toilet was dirty and overall the shower just needs a really good deep clean. It’s not cleaned well at all. Dirty mirrors etc. I was in and out of the shower as quickly as I could.
Mattress protector was filthy, full of stains.
We had a restaurant meal, food was ok. Starters weren’t really starters in my opinion, curry was middle of the road. I’d probably choose a restaurant close by instead.
