Crystal Bay

Crystal Bay offers both scooter rentals and rooms! The rooms are comfortable, spacious, with air conditioning, private toilets and showers, a table and chair, and a small covered outdoor area to chill out in.
I stayed for five nights and the price was very competitive. The owner and receptionist are helpful and very friendly.
I also rented a scooter, which was very good value and of very good quality.
I highly recommend staying at Crystal Bay for peaceful nights in a calm and tranquil atmosphere.

I really enjoyed my stay. thanks to Salu and Musa. they made me feel at home from the first moment. good location. its quiet at night so i had great deep sleeps evry night here. they offer scooter rentals and laundry service as well as rooms which is coinvent. the restaurant in front of the rooms Hungry hub is outstanding with a great chill vibe and good food and of course Rizvi who is very personable and has a lot of passion for what he does you'll always leave feeling satisfied!

Outstanding value for Arugam Bay. I’ve been in Arugam Bay for 3 weeks at numerous accommodations, and this is the best value. Excellent air conditioning. Private rooms. Near reasonably priced restaurants, which is good because they get more expensive deeper into town. Big balcony. Very friendly and helpful owner and staff. They also rent scooters, tuk tuks, and bikes. Highly recommended.

Our family really enjoyed our stay at Crystal Bay in Arugam Bay and honestly wished we could have stayed longer! Arugam Bay itself is a vibrant, fun, and family-friendly destination, with a lively atmosphere that’s admittedly touristy—but for good reason.

Crystal Bay is a real gem—affordable, comfortable, and in a fantastic location right on the main street, with countless shops, restaurants, and amenities just steps away. The family room was basic, clean, and spacious, with much-appreciated air conditioning, especially after a long day at the beach.

The staff were friendly and attentive, regularly checking in to see if we needed anything, which added a personal touch to our stay. We enjoyed the seating area outside our room, although the cover could do with a refresh.

One of the best features was the easy beach access—just across the road and down a side street, you’ll find a clean, swimmable beach perfect for relaxing or playing in the waves. It’s also a short walk to the main surf spot, and our children absolutely loved their surfing lesson with Ocean Surf (also located on the main road)—highly recommended!

As expected in a popular beach area, you’ll come across a number of local vendors selling tablecloths and souvenirs, but it’s all part of the Arugam Bay experience.

Dining options nearby were excellent. We highly recommend two standout spots:

Salty Beer Restaurant Bar – just across the road to the left of the property.

Salty Swamis – about a 10-minute walk further left along the main road.

Both served great food and had a relaxed vibe. And for convenience, the local alcohol shop is just a short walk away.

All in all, Crystal Bay was a fantastic find—great value, unbeatable location, and welcoming staff. We’d definitely stay here again on our next visit to Arugam Bay!

Had an awesome stay at Crystal bay. Large room, great aircon and nice little couch and patio. The location was also so so great. 100m from the beach, right on the main Arugam strip. The hosts were incredibly helpful. They allowed me to rent a bicycle and a scooter at a really great price. Would 100% stay at Crystal again.

Simple and clean room with everything, I really apprecited the little private terrace outside the room with a couch. Also to have A/C in the room was great.
The owner also helped me and organised a tuktuk to Komari.

The room is big with a lot if space for your stuff and an AC inside. The little terrace outside is really nice and it's quiet in the morning and at nighttime.

Perfect place ! Everything you need, Aircon and fan, calm, perfect location (close to the beach and to good and cheap restaurants) for a fair price and the staff are super helpful :)
We were supposed to stay for 3 days and we stayed for 2 weeks,

Too bad my trip is coming to an end, I would stay here long term if I could.
