Suitable place for holiday
Bad electricity supply condition...must have generator set for tourist comfort
The amenities. The staff. The food
The location
For a 'luxury' hotel price and looks were good. Location was easy to access and in cool village where not many western tourists come.
Decent enough stay on the way. Not for multiple days but definitely good enough for a night.
Wifi was unreliable and need to login again the whole time. Only lukewarm water for showering. Electricity outages for a few seconds once every hour or so.
Staff didn't speak a word of English. Made it pretty difficult. We didn't mind too much, but other people might.
Food was hit or miss. Pool was not available and looked run down. Only 2 breakfast choices because there was literally nobody in the whole hotel except us (January).
Pillows were huge, too big for us. But this is very personal if course.
Not many choices, we have the the same menus for 2days stayed ( fried rice & fried noodle)
Overpriced. The foods , laundry !
Sauna was nice and slide into the Lake was fun. Room was clean and spacious with a comfortable bed.
Don’t go here if you expect to be able to do anything here outside of swimming in the lake or fishing.
Staff doesn’t speak any English. And I mean zero English, I had to use google translate our entire stay. They were very kind, but the language barrier is definitely there.
The food is not good. We had nothing to complain about the included breakfast, but the lunch and dinner options are very limited for international tourists. The french fries were the only thing we thought were edible. The spaghetti and sirloin steak were not good (the sirloin steak was the most disgusting steak I’ve ever had, tasted like the ocean).
The room was tidy, but the shower had little to no hot water. Even after following the instructions (leaving on the AC for an hour for hot water) we only had about 5 minutes of hot shower before it turned cold.
The electricity also cuts out from time to time, but that seemed to be more a local issue than the hotel’s fault.
All in all, skip this hotel as an international tourist. If you have the time unlike us, just go to Samosir island
Hotel with all necessary amenities in the room (large enough rooms with AC, tea kettle, warm water shower). The hotel has a nice veranda on the lake with some outdoor seating, swimming pool and an amazing waterslide directly into the lake. Ideal for swimmers. Very kind and helpful staff.
Only two problems: 1. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a few seconds in the whole village. 2. The hot water for the shower is somehow connected to using the AC.. so if you don't use the AC, you won't have hot water. But these are minor problems and we really loved staying in this hotel.
Was a welcome place to stop and sleep. Hotel not that busy and therefore limited with food options. Breakfast was included however basic - but nice. Just seemed overpriced for standard. Hot showers but only after running aircon for 1hr. I guess nothing major but for 700000Rp a night should be better. Very lovely staff doing their best.
Value for money vs other accommodation. Shower heater system, food selection.
Power trip at night
Very comfortable, especially after the long and tenuous night drive to get there. It feels like an "end of the road" location down tight, bendy mountain roads. So that makes it all the better when you arrive and find how nice the place is. Room had a fridge which was very helpful as we were travelling with food. Room was very nice and comfortable. This is clearly a notch up from many budget hotels. The pool was great for the kids and no one was brave enough to try the slide into the lake.
It needed a bit of a tidy up down by the lake where the water slide hits the lake. Would be good to get this area back to how it used to be and make it more in line with the rest of the hotel.
The rooms were nice and clean, very comfortable bed too!
The shower pressure wasn’t great and the hotter water didn’t work. After asking many times at reception we gave up! The wifi connection was terrible also. Hotel wasn’t in a great area but if you’re booking here, be aware that there is nothing to do in Harangaol ahah!!
Oh and the swimming pool was FREEZING!
Clean rooms with nice bathroom. Overall the hotel looks nice and has great customer service. All the staff is happy to help and wery polite.
One of the rooms we rented was noisy due to an old fan from the kitchen. We were one of few guest there in late January and breakfast was not co tone tal but we had to order from four possibilities. For hot water you have to wait one hour fpr the boiler to heat up.
