Great location when traveling from Victoria to South Australia.
Pros:

Bob was an outstanding host. Very friendly, a great conversationalist, excellent sense of humor! Bob has done a great job renovating and updating the facilities to provide a welcoming environment.

Cons:

The lack of an en-suite was a surprise. Fish and chips were fantastic, chicken parma was undercooked.

Pros:

The hotel is an iconic old hotel with that eccentric feel only a good hotel can create. Bob was great and more than accomodating. And the food downstairs was typical country pub size servings

Cons:

The only negative was the bed was a little hard for my back issues. I am sure some will like it harder like that, but it was not good for me.

the room is small not real clean and the pictures on the website don't match up with the rwal room
Cons:

they state reception is opened from 2 pm to 10pm . we arrived at 8.00pm an it was closed and we called after hour number at it took them 45m to call back

Brilliant spot! Will stay here every time now!
Pros:

Beautifully renovated, decorated with passion and style, attention to detail was amazing!
Like an art deco vintage hotel meets Hard Rock Cafe. So much amazing memorabilia! Super clean and fresh AND dog friendly! We felt so welcomed!

It’s another world. Very hospitable & well- worth the visit. Just take headphones or ear plugs for sleeping.
Pros:

Artistically appeasing, the owner has done a brilliant job of creating an experience.

Cons:

The noise from the trucks at night. But take some noise-cancelling headphones and you’re right mate!

Loved the hotel, loved the quirkiness about it. Would stay there again for sure!

Bob & Shelby made you feel very welcome.Loved the very quirky feel about the pub. Quite retro and vintage.

Cons:

Maybe the bedroom was a bit tight with 2 x king single beds in!

We would stay at the Commercial again. Such a good, honest country pub.
Pros:

The pub is awesome. You can see the effort Bob has gone to in the themes, character, facilities. WE stayed in the "Music" room. It was really cool. Unfortunately the bed didn't help us get a good sleep, important for cross state driving. The Commercial Hotel is a credit to Bob and his Sister. It is a great country pub, friendly, basic, clean and the meals were a good size, not overly big like you get in the city. We appreciated the dunnies! Nicely done and top cleanliness. Thanks Bob!

Cons:

Just the bed. It was hard. Made me remember my nights sleeping on a steel deck.

Fit for royalty 👑
Pros:

I felt like royalty. I thought it would be run down and dirty . But no, absolutely beautiful beds shower cleanest hotel so far, so anybody going through Kaniva stay there you will be surprised. The shower covers your whole body awesome 👌 👏 👍. Paul Faulkner P.S. free breakfast 😋
