The room was spacious, bed comfortable with everything you need, hair dryer, iron etc.

The Portland was conveniently located a short walk away from Ashington Train Station. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant and reception areas looked very clean, tidy and inviting. The Manager was very friendly and showed me how the side door worked (for after hours access) and showed me to my room. I couldn't fault the staff, from check-in to check-out they were all excellent.
I booked a ‘Premium’ room, but it felt more like a standard room. While the room was generally tidy and presented reasonably well, it would have benefited from some extra care and attention.
There were marks on the walls, and the carpets were either stained or noticeably well worn. The dome lights also had dead bugs or flies inside them, which was disappointing. In the bathroom, the skirting board, particularly near the shower, looked rather dirty.
Although this may have been outside the hotel’s control, the room was also very warm. A fan had kindly been provided, but I chose not to use it as the blades looked quite dusty. Overall, the room was acceptable, but it did not quite meet the expectations I had for a ‘Premium’ room.

Disappointed with an expensive breakfast which was badly cooked given that we had a great dinner the previous night which was also good value for money .
We liked the size of the room and it's cleanliness ..we were in one of the lodges at the back...the decor, ornaments, and furniture was beautiful ..The gentleman on the desk was really helpful and friendly...we would definitely go back.
We thought the breakfast price was a bit pricey at £15 pound a head although we were told there was plenty choice..Our only other thing we noticed was that the heated towel rail needed a good scrub and also the shower door...the soap dispenser also needed cleaning...like we say though we would definitely go back

The staff, manager and owner of the hotel were amazing they could not do enough for myself and my husband who was taken ill .
They certainly went the extra mile to accommodate our needs , nothing was too much trouble for them .
