choose a room 3rd or 4th floor away from the street to avoid cockroaches, smoke and music
Pros:

central Tacloban, clean room, easy breakfast in restaurant

Cons:

I do not know why, but the restaurant had a barbecue every day 6pm till midnight right in front of the entrance close to many rooms - it was stinking and smoking despite closed door my eyes were burning and I heard the music till midnight despite earplugs.

cockroaches are a problem in the entire city, comparing with colleagues, it seems, the lower levels are more heavily infested --> ask staff for spray!

pool was small and had no view, no real swimming possible, poorly maintained- other hotels do better

no real chillout area with windows or outside available - need to use cafes and restaurants in city to relax

price was too high for all these inconveniences

Pros:

Facilities, with history to tell, and very lively reading all those historic moments in Leyte in WWII era

Cons:

Doesn't have water in the morning, no Telephone on the room, u have to go down just tell what u need, in case of emergency, it is not suitable that there's no phone on the room

Pros:

Location is great, within walking distance of great cafes, restaurants, van terminals, and pharmacies. It was good to go on a food trip in Tacloban.
Staff at reception and at the restaurant during breakfast were very friendly and helpful.
Room was above average, appreciated the sitting area. Good lighting.

Cons:

WiFi signal was very weak inside the room, and kept disconnecting. Cellphone signals also very weak.
Beds hard, tho we had a good sleep.
The window grill of the aircon kept sliding down and blew cold air directly onto my bed and onto me, and the thin blanket wasn't able to keep the cold off me.
Breakfast buffet choices were disappointing. Would have preferred fresh fish or dried/smoked instead of canned tuna and hotdog. This is Tacloban, after all, where fresh seafood abounds.
No water dispenser, only very little plastic bottles of water were provided.

Very very deceiving on the size from the website picture, it could do with a clean as the water was a bit smelly plus there were bits and pieces of debris on the swimming pool floor, this was my picked up by my daughter as well

Cons:

Couldn't get basic information like to go to bus station from man in reception. He wasn't help full at all. Also when ask for additional pillows ( those supplied were very flat) I was asked to pay extra fee. First time I met such request/arrangements.

Tacloban at its best
Pros:

THe Alejandro is very conveniently located with all services and shops nearby, or within a short and easy tricycle ride.
The breakfast options, Western and Filipino, are excellent and set in the comfortable hotel Cafe and are served by a willing staff. I had a supper in the Cafe one evening and this too was excellent with the choice of a wide ranging menu served promptly.
The hotel has a wonderful selection of photos from the WW2 actions in Leyte which should make this hotel a "Must" for anyone interested in military history. They are hung in the corridors on all floors and are a reminder of the difficulties the Leyte people had during the war years.

Cons:

My room was not made up but I was not clear if this was because I had arrived one day early and this had not registered with the Housekeeping staff. Incidentally, the hotel apologised for the booking.com rate being so much more expensive than that offered by the hotel.
