Everything
Very very helpful and welcoming staff.
Nice breakfast.
The tiny village of Jondal is one of the beautiful secret jewels of "authentic Norway." It is also a gateway to the unforgettable Folgefonna National Park, & home of the locally owned company which provides guides and gear for the Blue Ice Glacier Hike, glacier lake kayaking, etc. Those who appreciate Ecotourism will be thrilled to discover this destination. Our hosts have set up the historic Hotel Jondal with all this in mind. Accommodations are pragmatic and clean (similar to a "Pension"); they upgraded our family to one of the "apartments" in the new building, which can sleep up to 6, including bunk beds, a small double bed, and sofa bed. A lovely hot breakfast is included in the price. The small but well stocked kitchen allowed us to prepare other meals if desired; the Coop supermarket is a 2 minute walk away. We accessed this town by a gorgeous road on the local Skyss bus, Bergen to Jondal, including ferry, cost only about 750 NOK pp. The people in Jondal were amazing, the Juklafjord Cafe (the historic school building) a delightful place to relax, the Tourism office agent went above and beyond. In summer there is a bus ascending the mountain. Altogether we loved our charming rustic/historic accommodations, & were sad to leave.
We loved everything! American guests should note that in Europe, the bunk beds can be narrower than a twin bed, which is the case here (as in many "camping type" destinations across the pond). Also note the bus that takes you from Jondal up to the glacier only runs during the summer season; if you have no car, a taxi is available for the approx 40 min drive up (you will want to stop and take pictures... With no stops it's 30 min) but must be prearranged in advance (the Tourist office can help).
Really good hospitality, host were very welcoming. Provided delicious and fresh breakfast as well.
-dogfriendly
- the girl in the reception was friendly
- comfortable bed
- clean room and shared bathroom
- good breakfast
- maybe a bit expensive if you are a solo traveler
The room was good with a nice view and the shared bathroom was clean. The location is good when visiting Jondal.
The breakfast had really low standard. Some bread, butter, ham and cheese. Then some cereals with milk and juice. You can order omelett and porridge from the personal. I were really disapointed on the breakfast since reading rewievs that it’s really good.
very central, very clean, nicely furnished
white curtains may look pretty but when the sun does not set until almost midnight and rises at 4 in the morning, it is bright and hot in the room when you are trying to sleep. there is not a single hook in the bathroom. nowhere to put your wet towel. maybe more aimed at people staying a single night?
when we arrived, no one was there, and we spent ages running around trying to find someone. several wrong numbers listed. it took me almost an hour to reach someone.
Very friendly and nice operators
The staff were extremely kind and helpful with accommodating our needs and the breakfast was fantastic, the location is perfect to move around Jondal and from it. Great views!
Only thing that's a bit tricky were the toilet seats, probably a bit too tight
