The staff were very attentive & friendly
Everything was great. It would have been nice to see at least one salad dish on the menu.
Everything
Waking up to a flat car battery
Loved the cosiness of the hotel inside and the rooms were very comfortable
No air con but that’s first world problem
Charming pub & adorable boutique style bedrooms. Lovely beer garden & central location in the village close to restaurants & other pubs & shops
The staff were excellent, great service, with a smile.
Due to the heatwave, which was not the fault of anyone but God, would have liked air-conditioning in the accommodation.
Good location , nice room with a comfortable bed.
Breakfast was too late for me. The staff did me half a continental breakfast , so was ok
nice pub and restaurant in nice location
no air con or ventilation i booked a room and not a mew didn’t sleep due to the heat inside the mew
Welcoming, friendly and helpful staff
Very dog friendly
Delicious cooked breakfast
The extractor fan from the kitchen was very noisy and started up at around 7.30 in the morning. Otherwise would have scored 10.
Full of character, the Gaskell Arms is in a perfect location for exploring the local area. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the assistant manager. The pub has a lovely garden where we were lucky enough to be able to spend the evening in the sun.
The window in our bedroom had been painted shut during recent renovations and our room was very hot. The assistant manager (Rhys?) went to great lengths to try to open the window and provided a fan to help cool the room. He did offer us an alternative room but we didn’t need to take it in the end.
The location of the hotel is great, we enjoyed what we had to eat, both in the dining room on Friday evening and the cooked breakfast both mornings.
The hotel has a pretty, well kept garden. The bed was comfy and the bathroom was nice.
Some staff we encountered were friendly and appeared busy, others not so much so.
The bedroom! Sadly we were not given the room I had booked, as it was out of service, due to a problem with low water pressure. I understand that these things can happen, but there would not have been an explanation, or an apology during check in, if I had not mentioned it.
I had advised the hotel in advance that it was our wedding anniversary, but there was no acknowledgement of this throughout our stay. Instead, we were given the nosiest of rooms, above the kitchen, with a very loud extractor fan going 14 hours a day!! The hot water pressure in our room, over the sink taps was also very poor and despite reporting that our fridge wasn't working, nothing was done about it during our stay.
We did mention our disappointment about the room to the house keeper and she did do her best to find us an alternative room for our second night, however the room offered was much smaller than the one we were in and not worthy of the price we paid for a large king-sized room, so we stuck with it.
On our first evening we ate in the dining room and although the restaurant is nicely decorated and condusive for talking, no one appeared to be collecting empty glasses from the tables, so they just sat there. It was the same in the garden mid afternoon when we arrived.
As soon as we sat down to eat, we were approached for our order, we asked for an extra 5 mins to look at the menu, but the young girl never came back! After over half an hour we went to find her, she did apologise however. It all just seemed abit chaotic.
Honestly, I never normally look for fault in things and I do appreciate that things can go wrong, but when a hotel is receiving fab reviews and expectations are high, I think it is only right to be honest about your own experience, so that any issues can be addressed for the benefit of others enjoyment and the hotel can continue to receive good reviews.
Staff were friendly & helpful.
Rooms too small, problems with hot water, lack of bath when promised one at time of booking.
Very helpful and friendly staff, Abby very good helped us a lot. Room excellent clean and well equipped . Nice atmosphere in pub ,food good ,had meal on busy saturday night there was 8 of us and chef coped really well on his own . Will be coming back again .

Was happy with everything...would recommend
Lovely place, absolutely lovely staff, gorgeous and very comfortable bedroom, and absolutely delicious breakfast. Really loved, would highly recommend.
Staff were dealing very well with a minor issue in the kitchen, which was quickly resolved.
Lovely little spot at the top of the town, was a great place to stay with our dog.
Staff were friendly, rooms comfortable and breakfast was lovely.
Much Wenlock is a lovely town to explore

Most things
Sash windows could not be opened due to overpainting so a lack of decent airflow during hot nights. Although a fan was provided it was far too noisy to be used at night without disturbing sleep.
We liked nearly everything. The staff were exceptional, the bar and dining room were well furnished and had a welcoming feel and the bed was very comfortable.
We stayed in one of the suites, which was very spacious and nicely appointed, apart from the bathroom room which was poky to say the least, and not up to the same standard. Added to that, the bathroom was on the ground floor which meant a trek when going to the loo during the night, which wasn’t ideal.
