Very pleasant stay with amazing view over Longyearbyen
Pros:

Loved that hotel. Very charming decoration, amazing staff from the reception to the restaurant, and the view from the breakfast / dining room is simply breathtaking. Food in general is very nice! Don’t miss an evening in the restaurant.
If you decide to go the upper price segment hotels in Longyearbyen (so not the hostels with shared bathroom) I would always recommend Funkenlodge before the other options in Spotzbergen :)

Cons:

Sauna was always nice warmed, but small without windows.

Pros:

Lovely boutique hotel situated on a small hill just outside the main shopping area. The strip is not big and everything from the hotel is walking distance anyway

Cons:

Considering there are limited flights in and out of there, maybe some flexibility around early check-ins - if the rooms are available of course

The breakfast is great and the view is another level. The staff is super friendly.

Cons:

The prices are mad high. Almost 400kr for a sandwich. Or 2600kr for a steak is insane, especially when its slightly above mediocre good. The bathroom floor was ice cold, no heating. The showe glass was leaking onto said cold bathroom floor. There was no shower curtain or door either, so water was spilling out from the shower.

Excellent stay at Funken Lodge—perfect location, wonderful staff, and vegan breakfast options.
Pros:

A fantastic stay at Funken Lodge! The rooms were excellent, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and professional throughout our visit.

The location was perfect for exploring Longyearbyen, but what really stood out was the breakfast; they offered great vegan options, which made the mornings much easier. Everything from the service to the atmosphere was top-notch—highly recommended for anyone visiting Svalbard

Great stay - would love to return one day!
Pros:

Friendly and helpful staff, amazing breakfast, great views from the restaurant/breakfast area, decent gym given the location - loved it!

Also, the walk into the central area of town is ~15 mins and is a nice walk, so don't be put off by this.
