The location and the fact that I have stayed at the Kaveka since the 1990s.....so it is nostalgic. And my family lived in Maharepa since the 1800s.
I loved the bathroom and air conditioning. And had a room at the back but appreciated privacy and it being a stand alone space
Wifi couldn’t reach inside our room. Had to sit outside but worked out as I enjoyed sitting outside on deck. Didn’t have any plates and utensils as I had own cereal.
Private and quiet
The view from the end of the jetty is really magical - we had a sunny morning swimming off the end and it was so blissful (note it’s a little murky to snorkel here and is much better in the lagoon / reef areas).
The location more generally was pretty good, not too far to drive to some great public beaches and in beautiful Cook’s Bay. If we’d had our time again though we’d probably pick somewhere closer to Plage de Ta'ahiamanu, but that’s just our preference to be walking distance to a beach we feel more comfortable swimming in (the drop off in the bay was a little scary with the murky water).
The interior of the room we had was very modern and comfortable. You are guaranteed a good night sleep with a comfortable bed and great air conditioning.
The staff came and cleaned our room and front porch every day, which was great especially after it rained and sand got everywhere.
We found the staff friendly, although not overly enthusiastic and suggestive of different activities we could try on the island.
It didn’t rain much while we were there, which was lucky because there aren’t many places you can go to relax if it’s raining. Your front porch is tiny and not super relaxing to sit on. The garden view wasn’t much of a garden view, more a view of the bungalow in front of us. That would be tricky to fix - they should have really built the bungalows in a diagonal pattern to avoid guests feeling so boxed in.
The maintenance team were up early (before 7am) shovelling sand around on multiple mornings. This was quite loud and woke us up. It was understandable after our first night which had heavy rain and left trip hazards everywhere from exposed pipes, but on other mornings where they were doing less urgent maintenance it would have been better to avoid early morning times when guests are trying to sleep.
We don’t usually stay at resorts, but decided to splurge a bit because it was our honeymoon. In the end, we didn’t think the value for money was worth it on this occasion and we’d have been better off with an airbnb. At the price we paid, we would expect breakfast to be included, to be given basic things like beach towels, and a bit more interaction from staff to make sure you’re having a great experience. Our experience wasn’t bad in any sense, it was just pretty mediocre and not a really positive memorable experience on our honeymoon.
It was a great location and staff is very nice.
We were in a room that smelled really bad and they were unable to change our room so we were stuck with it. Also service was extremely slow.
Great place to stay. Clean and comfortable room. The ac worked great.
The views and te helpful staff.
Poor internet, food at restaurant needs improving.
More variety of food.
Très bel endroit,propre.Personnel très intentionne.
Peu de restos autour sans voiture
