Great guesthouse, Sharon the owner is lovely and made us feel really welcome on our first day in St Vincent's. Communication prior to the visit was great and the directions to find her place were great too. Would recommend!!
Beautiful view and very nice hostess
No ac and no restaurants nearby
Sharon is the most lovely lady, warm and welcoming, efficient, friendly and a delight to talk to.
The place is spotless, extremely comfortable with the most spectacular views.
Breakfast was delicious. All in all, I couldn't have asked for more.
Nothing ...... I wish Id been able to stay longer.
Don't be put off by the state of the road to the property, they are all like that!
The Milligan House is an oasis of tranquility. It’s a lovely space with a wonderful and kind proprietor who went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our time there.
Sharon was such wonderful and welcoming host and she has created a relaxed 'home from home' feel. Her welcome rum punch went down really well, lit up by the moon over the ocean. As it is a little away from cafes and restaurants (but all the more peaceful for it) we opted to have dinner there, which was delicious and home cooked. The breakfasts were brilliant too and set us up for a days sightseeing and a swim at nearby Brighton Beach. The local taxi contact, Dejoun, was great too - he showed us around parts of the island, and introduced us to the Plum Rose fruit!
Food and room great
Charged more than the booking price with booking.com. or is the booking .com price misleading
A beautiful small hotel run by Sharon who was a marvellous host.
A few mosquitoes but there was a mosquito net. Air con would have helped but we weren’t expecting this.
Peaceful and remote location with views of the Atlantic Ocean across a field with cows and a few goats. Lively breeze blowing across the terrace with comfortable seats. Lower bar with more seating on an outdoor covered deck. Quick trip from airport (definitely request a driver from the manager) but through backroads. If arriving at night, get a driver! King Bed was super comfortable, sliding door to upper deck. But the best part was Sharon, the owner! Excellent cook, warm, engaging and kind.
It might be too remote for some but not us. Hopefully there will be an outdoor pool soon as it is getting fixed.
Sharon is an incredible host. The space is beautiful and very comfortable. I felt welcome and at home. The food was great. Really enjoyed my stay here!
Food was great and the owner, Sharon, is very friendly and hospitable. Views and breeze were magnificent!
Recommend using a taxi to reach the property, and Sharon is very helpful in arranging transportation. We often rent cars, but didn't for this stay, which turned out to be fortuitous.
The place itself is very good with lovely view but the road to the house not good.
We expect food and drinks available at all times since it is advertised as a hotel. We arrived a bit late and tired but had to take a taxi again to go and buy a take away. Also our 2nd day, we were not given any juice or water except the half filled coffee shared by 3. Since we were in a hurry to go for our tour we did not bother to ask. We were also told dinner normally served 6-6:30 so we had been waiting hungry as everything closed as it was holiday due to the election, our food serve nearly 8:00pm.
So thoughtfully and meticulously designed for comfort and efficiency. The views are spectacular and every need was catered to and thought of, including the complementary drink and breakfast. Sharon is a delight, a wonderful conversationalist and the consummate hostess.
Nothing
We loved the stay at the Milligan. Sharon was very nice and welcoming, and a great cook! The meals were fresh and healthy. Sharon also helped us a lot with explaining and recommending things about different sightseeing options in St Vincent and the Grenadines. What we loved most about the place was the view of the ocean from the main balcony and the peaceful and quiet location. The house is really surrounded by nature - you will hear a lot of bird noises, cows, goats. The room was very nice and clean.
Not really dislikes, but some things that other travellers might need to be aware of.
First, getting around might be difficult. We mostly took the "minivans" to get around during the day (the nearest stops are located on the main highway, which takes 30 minutes of climbing up and down small hills to reach) or sometimes we took a taxi, but those are a little expensive in St Vincent, even for short distances. The minivans were a fun experience and very affordable, but there is not a set schedule, you might need to wait for a while to catch one (some are too full), and the last ones end their workday at around 6PM. In general there a few places that are open after 6PM, some close even earlier. Once the sun sets, life on the main island settles down.
If you plan on walking around after the sunset, we suggest bringing a flashlight or a headlamp, since some of the streets will be completely dark, especially the many dirt roads in the area. We still felt very safe, but just be aware that after sunset navigating the area without a source of light might take extra effort.
Second, there are not that many restaurants/cafe's a walking distance away, especially ones that are open after 6PM. So it is good to plan ahead and maybe book dinners in the Milligan before the trip, as we did not book and had a hard time finding places for dinner around. In general restaurants are concentrated near yacht clubs and beaches, with just some small local bars found between these "tourist pockets".
Third, make sure to use the mosquito nets by the bed, you will get bitten without them!
Loved it!
The quiet location is great if you’re looking to relax. Sharon and Lennox are friendly and welcoming and can help with anything you need. Breakfast and dinner is included and the food is great. They have a preferred driver service that can get you to and from anywhere so don’t bother with a car as the roads are rough and the traffic is a little erratic. There’s an awesome view of the beach and ocean and some land full of cows.
Nothing
It’s a beautiful property with gorgeous views of the sea and surroundings. Such a peaceful and tranquil place. Sharon and Lennox were the best hosts and looked after me so well. The food was delicious. There is no AC but the breeze is lovely and there are fans provided. The bed is super comfy and the attention to detail around the property is clear to see. This is the ideal place to relax and unwind. I can see it being perfect for retreats as well. Sharon and Lennox arranged my taxi pick up and tour around the island with Dejoun and he was fabulous! All in all - an amazing stay.
My only dislike was the fact that I only booked one night here ! I will be back for sure though!
Also wirklich 10 Sterne deluxe! Man fühlt sich wie in einem Haubenlokal.
Es gibt keine Klimaanlage, hat uns aber nicht gestört - leiser Ventilator tat auch seine Dienste.
This is a quiet place to stay, between Kingston and the airport. You will need taxi service to get there. During our stay we were the only ones there. We loved the view of the beach at sunrise. Dinner is provided - we selected local fare and were not disappointed. Breakfast also was good. The owners arranged for a day trip to Brighton Beach (a secluded, beautiful jet-black sand beach) and up the windward side of St Vincent (up to Owia).
Sharon and Lenox were extrordinary! They made sure we got where we were going, and organized tours and travel for us. We always felt safe. The food was magnificent, and served with such creativity and panache- like a five star restaurant. The offereings were always fresh and tasty, and cuisine was traditionally prepared. We learned a lot about the local foods, like callaloo and breadfruit. Warm and welcoming people who catered to our needs. We plan to return. We felt like family!
