Super helpful kitchen staff and right next to the bus and lift
Pros:

Staff were super helpful and even managed to work out gluten free meals.

Cons:

Its basic, the heating in some part of the hotel weren’t working. There was nothing wrong with the hotel but its very simple accomodation

Exceptional
Pros:

After all of negative reviews here I was a bit sceptical. But everything in dormitory was clean. It looks like short time after renovation. Lots of space for your luggage, two towels and flippers included. There is very nice onsen, could be hotter, with outside view. Great location right next to the slope. WiFi in the room (weak) and in the restaurant. There is slackline in the hallway, billiard and some board games. Ski storage room with lockers.

Good stay
Pros:

Had everything you need, private toilet, not a far drive from all the other resorts

Cons:

The showers were inoperable therefore had to use the hotel onsen which is not private, restaurant was not open and no other food options nearby

Real vintage place
Pros:

Great location when it comes to ski. A not too used lift is just at the exit of the restaurant of the hotel. It's on the mountain so at night it keep this vibe. The village with food truck is 10 min walk and the main visitor center from this resort "Maruike Area" is also 12 min walk. Onsen in the hotel to relax 24/7 open. It has this vintage 90's vibe typical of the Japanese resorts. Also the game room is complete with a warm atmosphere and many boards games, billards, darts, sound system and a bar.

Cons:

The food is not tasty and expensive. And you don't really have a choice as there is no restaurant or bar open in the area of Sunvalley and Maruike. All the hotel of the area recommend their guest to stay in for diner because except some food truck there's NOTHING. Don't expect after ski if you come to Japan, just come for the snow and that's it.

Best hotel to stay near Shigakogen Yamanoeki
Pros:

Close to Shigakogen yamanoeki, only 10mins on foot.

Good food. Go for their breakfast/lunch/dinner set. The fish in the breakfast was amazing. Wholesome food. It energized us to do Snowboard all day.

The ambience is nice. They have nice warm lights in the dining area.

The lounge room is fun! In the night, you can play darts, pool, your own music.

The onsen is also nice.

Everything is very clean.

Its a complete experience.

Go for it.

2 star facility with 3 star price. It should be called mountain hut, instead of hotel.
Pros:

Wet friendly staff and comfortable bed.

Cons:

No sleeping wardrobe. Expensive for ran down facility.

Will return, great stay
Pros:

Really convenient location with the bus to/from Nagano as well as other stops located right outside. There’s also a lift right outside that allows you to connect to the wider Shiga Kogen resort seamlessly. There’s a ski rental facility on site but if you prefer to rent elsewhere, there’s a larger ski rental place a 7 min walk away. Comfortable rooms and onsen. Great food too :) thoroughly enjoyed my stay with really hospitable staff

Would not recommend
Pros:

N/A

Cons:

Booked a private bathroom- our rooms shower was broken/under renovation

Onsen was disgusting and filthy . And they told us we had to go shower in the onsen. When we have payed extra for private bathroom but now we gotta used shared showers

Also try charging you bathing tax for something we didn’t use or have.

Hotel was under renovations inside so noisy all day and morning

Food options were poor with nothing around the area for other options.

Room was old and outdated so was the hotel

Hallways and rooms where from a haunted out.

Couldn’t plow the snow properly on stairs for visitors causing my partner to slip over on snowy stairs

Whole place smelt like gas

Beds where yellow

Good
Pros:

Near bus station and you can easily rent the skis at central bus station. The lift is behind the hotel and it can connect to all mountains in Shiga

Cons:

Very good. Maybe more choice for dinner

I definitely will be going back to Shiga Kogen but I definitely wil not stay at this hotel again.
Pros:

The only good thing was their in-house beer, but in their freezing restaurant. There really isn't anything good to say about this place.

Cons:

Showed up at this dark hotel at night with a closed sign in the door. Had to knock to get attention. The food was not so good with small portions and expensive. The hallways were cold and no hot water in the bathroom, not to mention the holes in the paper windows that I had to plug up to keep warm.
