Carlton Hotel

Our whole room sloped slightly, so the bed also sloped and I felt I was rolling out of bed all night.
It was a difficult set over to get out onto the balcony.

The rooms are lovely but the halls and corridors are dingy and gives a bad impression.

We didn't like how rude the staff was over the phone, I had a question before arriving so called & the lady ( sound older ) was just rude & not helpful at all

On arrival there's no reception desk, just a cubby hole.
We got told all parking was full yet wasn't

Our room wasn't ready & it was just ok. We stayed in room 109. The telly is on the side of the wall which was uncomfortable as it should be placed straight ahead.

There's a distinctive smell of food from the restaurant that's not pleasant

We paid £88 for the room definitely not worth any more & we got this on offer glad we didn't pay full price.

A lick of fresh paint on the bedroom walls would bring the whole room up to excellent standards. The marks, scuffs and scratches, albeit at the end of season, let it down just very slightly. We had a sea view room and the use of the balcony was great. Replace the fairy lights on the balconies at the front of the property so that they work and that would uplift the balcony any the frontage to make it look so much more inviting.

Shower and bathroom very compact

When I booked it said balcony or terrace and we had neither we overlooked the carpark so was disappointed

Some people loud in the street at 2am but that cant be helped with a central location.

Parking

No proper barrier between the balconies meaning we had to sleep with the windows/ doors shut as there was nothing to stop your neighbours straying onto your side. The bathroom sink was badly cracked which we reported as we didn’t want to be blamed for it (the cracks didn’t look fresh anyway). The towels were stained

Reception desk was closed. Someone from the kitchen came and gave us our key but did not give instructions or explain how any of the smart facilities both outside and inside the room worked. The room claimed to be a "smart" room and we should have been able to control things like the lights, TV and curtains using our voice. None of this worked! We eventually found someone in reception (who told us she was not a regular worker) even she couldn't get tv etc to work! She said she would send someone up to help. Two hours later, the same gentleman who had given us our key came up but couldn't get anything working either. Alexa was not working! We ended up watching YouTube as no e of the other channels and Netflix were not working. We went out to get something to eat and when we came back, the keypad on the door wasn't working, we tried everything and it eventually locked us out. There was no one in reception. We eventually managed to get a waitress from the restaurant to help us, even though it wasn't her job! The hotel claimed to be the first smart hotel in the area but did not luve up to it's reputation. Overall a disappointing stay.

The common areas definitely need a makeover and breakfast was confusing , you had to reserve night before and was all locked up

There was no one at reception when I arrived and I had to wait for almost half an hour for someone to come and give me my key fob. There is an odd smell in the hallway downstairs and in the dining area. One night with no advance notification or warning I was informed there would be no breakfast available the next day.

Room very small. Toilet shower room very small. No real reception and mostly unmanned. Restaurant locked up and closed. I didn't see anyone eating food there during my stay. Parking facilities very poor. My car damaged in it. Hotel didn't come back to me when I requested cctv help. Access to lift very restricted, just enough room to pass by with luggage. Sorry I booked to stay there.
