Beautiful ocean view stay
Pros:

The service was excellent! They took me to the airport and dropped me off at the bus station when I needed to use the bus. It was my birthday and they got me a cake and played/sang with the saxophone! The view from the deck is incredible, and you can see the sunrise in the morning, stars at night. The weather on the south side of the island is so much warmer than the north, too. Glad I stayed in the southern part. Keisuke makes incredible breakfasts. Splurge on one of their dinners. This place is best for couples with a car cuz of the room size and the location.

Cons:

Maybe cover the big window in the room with a curtain to darken the room? But I’m sensitive to light🤷🏻‍♀️

Luxurious and unique wooden dome property with all the amentities you could ask for and super friendly team to boot!
Pros:

Beautiful view from the deck and Alice place to practice yoga. Very spacious room with mini fridge and water kettle. The meals were exceptionally delicious and the staff felt more like friends than employees. We even had a jam session one night with the various instruments at the property. I was able to get a rental car through the property which was SO clutch!

Cons:

Nothing - it was perfect.

Vi kom med snabbfärjan från Kagoshima, hämtade ut en hyrbil och besökte ett urval platser på ön.
Pros:

Frukosten var bra och välgjord. För oss som besökare från Sverige är det ovant att få en tillagad liten barracuda ihop med tre olika delikata sallader istället för en tallrik filmjölk och en smörgås. En så fin Japansk frukost vill man gärna ha när man valt att resa långt hemifrån.

Cons:

Lite svårt att hitta första gången. Lågmälda Japaner använder inte stora skyltar.... Vi fick ringa och fråga hur man bäst hittar fram då vi kört förbi vid första försöket. Sedan gick det bra.

Pros:

Beautiful location. Owner and staff were beyond friendly and amazing and very gracious and welcoming.

Cons:

Expectations need to be set on modern comforts. Beds are traditional Japanese. Room is in a loft, but has AC. Other retail customers share the common areas. Shower is a shared space.

Pros:

We stayed in the cottage 5 minutes away, it had everything we needed and the view was beautiful. The staff were excellent, helpful hosts. There was a washing machine and somewhere to hang the clothes with a fan to dry them, a bathtub big enough for two as well as a kitchen. We highly recommend the menu at Takahira Base, super healthy and delicious.
