Breakfast was good
Would have liked to have an air conditioner to keep the room warmer.
I spent six days at Lumina Suites, and it was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve ever had. I was traveling for work and absolutely needed a reliable internet connection to complete assignments and conduct homework after training sessions. Unfortunately, the internet in my room was so poor that I couldn’t connect at all.
On the first day, I explained the situation and insisted that I needed to work in the evenings. However, the staff refused to change my room. A gentleman at the reception—who I believe was filling in temporarily—spoke with the manager, but nothing was resolved. I had to wait until around 9 PM for another receptionist to arrive, who finally allowed me to use a different room to work, although I still had to return to my original room to sleep. I didn’t understand the logic behind this arrangement.
The same issue continued on the second day. It wasn’t until Wednesday that they finally agreed to change my room permanently to one with a better internet connection. However, that new room had its own issues: the fridge was extremely dirty, and one day the room wasn’t cleaned at all. When I reported this to the reception, the staff member simply said he would “see what he can do”—but nothing came of it.
There was no power extension in the room, and although there were two lamps, there were no outlets available to plug them in. As a result, the room was poorly lit—just like the rest of the hotel.
Overall, I do not recommend anyone stay at this hotel. The lack of basic amenities and poor customer service made my stay very frustrating and inconvenient.
All the Staff were very kind and friendly. I felt comfortable and safe. I had a clogged sink and this was taken cared of right away which I appreciated. The bed was quite comfortable. Location is 8-10 min walking distance to village market and 5-6 min to the UN compound.
I understand that this is a new establishment and therefore still undergoing some improvements. Bathroom drainage system emitted a smell. However if you come for work , it’s good to know that internet is not at all functional for working in the rooms. There is really no restaurant on site. There were power outages during my stay and they do not yet have back up generators or power supply which is a problem if you want to plug phones or take a warm shower. I was given a solar lamp to use and was told that they were working on the generator.
The best part of us the help of Jay Munga, who has been very helpful for every issue we had. The bad part is the Internet, had some coverage problems in the room.
I really enjoyed the excellent service provided by the staff, who were attentive and always willing to help.
One aspect I didn’t like was the limited dining options available on-site, which could be improved
Lovely new hotel in Gigiri. Peaceful surroundings and well equipped new rooms. Stephen and the staff were very welcoming and accommodating. If you’re travelling to Gigiri then would highly recommend this spot.
It’s strategic location in the diplomatic area and the staff who were very helpful!
1. Cleanliness.
1. There was no tissue paper.
2. The booking was claimed cancelled i wonder why.
1. indoor space was clean and quiet.
2. Free airport pickup/drop off made the cost worthwhile.
3. Staff accommodated my breakfast needs and brought breakfast as room service.
1. Renovations were happening just outside my room in the hallway
2. Only one of the three shower heads had lukewarm water... no hot water could be found.
3. The neighborhood is not residential so it felt strange sitting in the midst of organizations and businesses.
The area is nice, safe and calm. The rooms were very clean. It is not the fanciest place, but new and decent with very friendly staff and a rich breakfast.
Some of the place is still under construction since they are still finishing it.
The service, the location and the food were excellent! It feels like a home and not a hotel
