Silent, friendly staff, You can purchase bus tickets here with reasonable price
very hot in the room and they only have a very small fan. a bit bad smell in bathroom.
We had a lucky a room in the terrace with a lot of light and ventilation.
Other rooms are little bit worse, especially the ones in the ground floor.
Kitchen is well-equipped and clean.
Actually, everything is really clean and you can see the family always cleaning.
We did the Acatenango tour through them and they allow us to keep the luggage and have a shower
Position is not really central, but it can be a pro for somebody
The view from the terrace was beautiful. Nice location, a short walk from the market.
Nothing.
This hostel is in a beautiful building with characterful design. The staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful. The rooftop terrace is a lovely place to relax.
The location is a little far from town, but there are food places nearby.
Our son got an electrical shock in the upstairs left side shower…extremely dangerous. We were told we could leave our bags at 9. We happened to arrive at 8 and waited until 9:30 to leave bags. Im pretty sure the bedspreads had not been washed. There were kids running up and down the hall and playing with a loud toy outside our open window last night.
Murphy was very friendly. The showers and toilets were clean.
One bed was really good, the other one was a bit too soft. It was clean and quiet. The kitchen was well equipped and we got purified water. There was a roof top, where we could see the Vulcanos in the morning.
We booked the Acatenango tour with them and it was really cheap (275 Q +100Q Entry) and quite good. (But maybe we were just lucky with our group.)
It’s not in the city Center, so you have to walk 15 min to the main attractions and the market/ bigger supermarket.
After the Acatenango Hike we came back to this accomodation. Unfortunately we got an other room. The room at the Rooftop was really loud because of the street and you could hear everything from the shared bathroom next to it, because there was only a locked door in between. Nothing you want to hear from other people…
The kitchen and the rooftop were quite nice.
The location and that everything you needed was there. Clean kitchen :)
Nothing
Very good value for the price! Nice rooftop terrace en private rooms. Great kitchen
One of the showers gave me a small electric shock, en the staff wasn’t around most of the time, making it hard to ask things to them when you needed them
Staff were really helpful. The terrace was really nice to sit and relax and watch the sunset. The laundry was great value. Alittle bit from the centre but that had benefits too.
The pool was unusable and the doors could use something to seal them as insects, especially ants could get in
Friendly staff, clean kitchen, nice rooftop
My room had no window and the room smelled stale. Room was also directly connected to the kitchen, so very noisy. The kocation is a bit far out of town, that is ok, only the street to get there is a bit abandoned during the night
Best budget room that we found during 5 weeks of backpacking in Guatemala. We stayed here a second time before hiking Acatenango. Rooms were very quiet (no street noise, dogs, roosters). Other guests were very quiet and respectful. This was one of the least expensive rooms we found during our whole trip, and we got better sleep here than at other places which were more than double the cost. We were able to get 2 twin beds for roughly the same cost as a double bed (which we need to sleep well). Staff were friendly and helpful, beds were comfortable and clean, fans worked well, shared kitchen was available.
Nada
Large rooms, with comfortable beds.
Upper terrace with beautiful views.
Kitchen well equipped, with filtered water available.
Showers and bathrooms clean.
We had a very sour experience after booking a trip to Pacaya Volcano through them.
The plan was to leave by 2pm to the Volcano, spend an hour or two at the top, and see the sunset. Unfortunately the agency had a problem with one of the vans, and they sent a small car instead. The car arrived super late, around 3.46pm, and there were 4 people inside already. The hostel barely communicated with us during our wait.
In total we were 6 people in that tiny car, with people sitting on top of each other. The ride was 1h30 to the volcano. Not only would it have been unbearable to get there, but we had already lost the entire point of the experience by missing the sunset and time on the top.
When I tried talking to the agency and our hostel, they were hard to reach. Once I did reach the agency, they agreed to refund us the money we had paid, but still let us continue with the tour, if we could endure it. However, they told us we would have to get the refund from the Hostel, because they were the ones we had paid to.
Once I reached the Hostel personnel Heidi, she was extremely dismissive and disrespectful to us. She told us we would not get a full refund, and was dodging the question of the refund if we stayed with the tour. We felt sort of hostage of the situation, as they told us we could exit the car if we wanted, but essentially telling us they would leave us stranded and it would be up to us to find our way back (we had left some 20min ago already in hopes they would maybe send another car or contact us about rescheduling another tour). So it was either stop there and be on your own, or continue with the tour and just take it. After long discussion over the phone with her she eventually and reluctantly said they would do “something” to help us get home, but nothing clear or reliable. I certainly wasn’t going to put my faith on them at that point.
In the end, luckily, everyone in the car cancelled the tour and so everyone was driven back by the driver.
Comfortable bed. Clean room. Hot water in the shower.
Last time we stayed we had a better room. This time we had an attached bathroom and it smelled bed + the toilet was leaking.
Very clean. Nice ambience. Lots of tour options with the hotel.
No clocks in the hotel. It is also a bit far to walk to the main attractions in Antigua. This can be an issue especially in the night as a solo female traveler so I had to get back at the hotel early most times as tuktuks were a bit expensive to get there.
The staff there are very nice and helpful. The property is clean and not too far from the center. There is a big kitchen which is also very useful. Good value for money.
No windows in the room and given there are no airconditiong, the air circulation is not good.
