Construction ruining the view but not the hotel fault and wasn’t noisy.
Unfortunately, the rooms were not clean. There was a smoking area in front of the room, which made the room smell of smoke when people used it. The room doors were extremely thin, so you could hear everything. The international breakfast that was advertised consisted of fried eggs and two pieces of toast and was not very enjoyable.
I advise you to eat at the hotel because they cook very well. And cheap but still get super delicious free beer.
The hotel is quite nice located right on the sulky road. And there are many amenities around. The sea view is very beautiful. Clean, super friendly staff and very cheap price.
It is a lovely family run hotel and restaurant. The owners and the staff are so friendly and helpful. The loction is great. We had at least one meal a day in the restaurant. The food was very good and reasonably priced. The air conditioning worked well, which was great as Cat Ba was a lot hotter than we expected. The double glazing was useful as there is lot of work being done to repair the damage after Yagi.
My husband thought that the bed was too hard, I thought it was ok. The issue was the size, it was huge. It would be great for a family with small children but for a couple it was too big. There was enough space to move around in the room and use the small seating area, but smaller bed would have been better (for us). Not the fault of the hotel, but there is work going on to fill in the little bay to create a luxury resort,. I feel so sorry for all the small independent hotels and restarants (like the Dolphin), that currently have an unobstructed view of the bay.
The room is spacious and clean. Right in the center of the square, there are many amenities around.

The owner is funny. Also helped me buy a 1-day tour to visit Lan Ha Bay by boat. The room is clean. The bed is big and I sleep well.

The full day tour to Lan Ha, the owner sells it cheaper than the tour offices and it was fun and the discovery was rewarding.
