I just had a surreal experience that I won' t never forget. First time it happened to me. Will only book hotel room from now on with free cancellation Called the owner ahead of time to tell her that I would arrive late. She was not friendly over the phone. Got there after midnight. I entered the house with a code.It was pitch dark inside with no light. I felt more like if I was entering someone' s house but I was not welcome. Personal items everywhere in living room, bathroom, kitchen, hallway. The kitchen sink, fridge were dirty. Managed to find a small space inside the fridge that was full. Garbage can was disgusting .Too uncomfortable to touch anything or eat in the kitchen table so I ate in my room instead. Was told by owner that I was not supposed to use the large fridge (but she told me the opposite before my arrival) that a small fridge was in my closet room. After I was given the right code to open my room, found a dusty small fridge in closet but was dirty inside ( the owner told me that she checked herself if it was clean). + water bottles left by previous renter. On my arrival, I climbed a steep set of stairs with my suitcase, I tried to open my room with a code for 25 minutes until 1h30 am but was not successful. Noone around to help. Knocked lightly in room 2 to see if someone could help me. Noone responded. but a man, in room 3 opened his door himself . I asked him if he could help open my room but he said "No" and closed his door. At that point, I felt really lonely, worry, upset, tired and ready to go sleep in my car after I made 3 emergency call to the owner that were not answered promptly. after waiting for a a long time , she texted me " try this code" with no apology. I finally succeeded to open my room. was awaken by cars passing by when I was told that it was a quiet street. Only 3 bedrooms in the house.

I was expecting a bed and breakfast type accommodation, but instead it was an Airbnb, but not for the whole place, just one room. There was no staff present and no breakfast provided. The location was a bit weird. It was in a completely residential neighborhood, with nothing to walk to. The one way streets made navigating the area difficult. Having other people staying in the same property made using the common areas awkward, so I just stayed in my room. The Wi-Fi kept cutting out and I would have to reconnect. The neighborhood was noisy with people outside yelling at night and in the early morning. I probably wouldn't book this place again.

The house’s heater was in operable, so when we arrived the building was only 62 degrees. I contacted the host and the daughter told me it was broken and that supposedly someone was going to come and fix it over the weekend. No one came and the outside temperature was in the 40’s at night. We should have been told prior to check-in of the situation and offered a refund if we decided to cancel. Not having heat is a major feature flaw. All they provided was a small space heater that was insufficient and needed to be moved everywhere if you wanted to use another room. In particular, the bathroom. Obviously they new this was a problem. The insulation was terrible, so you could see your breath if you needed to use the bathroom.

They forgot to tell us that there was another shared bathroom downstairs, which would have made waiting for the bathroom upstairs much easier. The man next door almost constantly screamed aggressive and extreme profanities as his very young son, which was deeply disturbing. We were not sure what to do about that...

No heat in bedroom. Down stairs abit chilly as well
