Wonderful location, good breakfast, hostel-style
Pros:

Returning to Hotel Insular after two years, the experience is just the same: excellent location within walking distance of the very center of Ponta Delgada and also with a free parking for the rental car you'll need in the Azores when you want to look around a bit not excessively far off and with only one red light to the next thoroughfare out of town; nothing-fancy, good breakfast; welcoming staff happy to help with info on the town and the island when asked. Although the value for money is no longer as good as it was last time around for me, it still sets the place near top of the list for São Miguel.

Cons:

With a construction scaffold next door that looks as if it has come to stay and the door closed during the day, you need to persuade yourself this going to be o.k. when you arrive. The reception isn't actually staffed and out of breakfast time you have to be lucky for someone to answer the bell; then, the contact phone number on the door is your friend. But they make up for this by trying to narrow down to the hour or so the arrival and departure times with their guests. Fittings and furniture in my and – I guess – most or all the rooms are somewhat dated, but if you can put up with this, this is a fun place to set up base camp on the island.

Perfektes Hotel für Kurzaufenthalte.
Pros:

Wie verbrachten unsere Nacht direkt nach Ankunft auf São Miguel und reisten spät nachts an. Das Personal und der Empfang war sehr freundlich und herzlich.

Cons:

Sehr einfache Ausstattung mit einfachem Frühstück.

The hostess was very understanding of our late arrival because of a late flight. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. It’s a great option for an overnight stay.

A dedicação/preocupação dos funcionários/proprietarios.
Pros:

Localização excelente. O pequeno almoço suficiente, podendo melhorar, compreensível com o preço praticado.

Cons:

Não houve nada que desgostasse, há sempre aspetos a melhor, edifício com alguns anos a funcionar, necessita de melhoria.

Excellent petit hôtel bien situé!
Pros:

La jeune femme a la réception à ete d’une amabilité et politesse exemplaire.
Le petit déjeuner très correct.
Les draps sentaient bons et la salle de bain était impeccable.
