The highlight of my first trip to Costa Rica was Hotel Liberia!
Pros:

Hotel Liberia is charming, historical property, with a cozy open air lobby/community area. While the rooms are minimal, you have everything you need. The AC is powerful (for those who struggle with the heat), and the beds are comfortable (firm mattress, but still soft). The garden between the entrance building and my room was a nice little place to sit if you wanted some fresh air and enjoy the warmth. By far the best was the hospitality. Edwin was extremely friendly, respectful, informative, and warm. I’ve never been to Costa Rica before, and this was only a 3 day trip for me, with only one full day on the ground, but I felt so welcome and comfortable. For those concerned about security, the door to the property has a doorbell camera, of which you can view in the lobby area. You receive a key to the front door and your room door.

Cons:

Not applicable! For the price, the location, and my needs, I was more than satisfied with everything.

Pros:

Super freundlich, netter Innenhof, sehr aufmerksamer Host, sauber aber sehr basic, Parkplatz am Hotel, kurze Distanz zum Zentrum und zu Restaurants, leckeres Frühstück.

La ubicación y la amabilidad del anfitrión

Cons:

El baño es sumamente pequeño e incómodo, había que dejar la puerta abierta y no permite privacidad. El colchón de la cama muy dura. El parqueo que incluye es un espacio que tiene materiales de trabajo y es incómodo. Tuve que utilizar un parqueo privado. No incluye desayuno. El anfitrión ofrece el desayuno pero no indica con claridad qué es el desayuno (estaba bien pero no sabíamos qué incluía)

Pros:

This is a historic hotel (in operation since 1918) with a gorgeous garden inside. Beautiful! The rooms come with air conditioning, which was such a treat.

I would happily stay at this delightful haven again.
Pros:

Although our room and bathroom were tiny - as I knew in advance, - they, like all rooms there, were charmingly decorated, equipped. and painted. It was a joy to wake up to. Likewise, the lounge area by the garden and reception was a haven to be in. It was also the area where we were served an excellent breakfast. Our hosts could not have been more welcoming, caring and friendly. They made us feel like we were with old friends. We also liked that a number of restaurants (and apparently shops (although we did not go to any) were in easy walking distance on streets that were well maintained and felt very safe.

Cons:

Really nothing.

Sweet little hotel in urban Liberia
Pros:

This is a very sweet property with a lovely outdoor area. The host, Edwin, is warm and welcoming, made me coffee at 5:45 am for early departure. Room is simple and clean.
