Very good
Pros:

The location is fantastic and the host is amazingly helpful. I can not express how grateful I am for her help with support with some legal stuff when I needed it. I don’t speak Spanish so her help was a godsend to me. I liked the hammock on the roof and the view of the lake.

Cons:

I liked it all but it is basic accommodation so if you are looking for a luxury stay you need to look elsewhere.

Good stay but with few "bad points"
Pros:

Perfect location, solid wifi, comfortable bed, great rooftop to chill in the evening, friendly english speaking staff - they even booked sailboat tour for me which was great, fair price

Cons:

I got probably the worst room n.1 which was closest to street and because it doesnt have proper windows - just "wooden blinds" which were great for stopping light but not good for stopping noise at all, it was very noisy, you heard basically everything from outside, impossible to relax in the room during the day

Overall I would say the accomodation needs some remodelling and maintenance, I also had issues with toilet flushing, there were huge amount of ants outside, the sheets on lounges on the rooftoop were little bit dirty...

It is ok to stay for 1-2nights but for longer stay I would book something else, but if owners invest a bit onto remodelling and put solid windows it can be great guesthouse

Amazing location, OK room, bathroom needs a good clean, short term not too bad for a place to crash
Pros:

SoLuna is an unusual property = I could not really categorise it, not a hotel or guesthouse in the definition that there is no staff on site, there is no reception area, there is no sign to let you know you have arrived...it is a two storey building with three rooms on the ground floor and four rooms on the upper floor and a small communal roof top terrace with lovely views over the lake. The room I stayed in on the upper floor was spacious, air conditioned and comfortable although the bathroom could have done with a deep clean. There were towels provided and hot water in the shower, but all quite basic for the price. The person that met me to check me in after having made contact through WhatsApp was very welcoming and friendly, but after showing me the room and giving me the key, that was it for contact with anyone from the property. This may suit a lot of people and suited me, and with a WhatsApp number I guess you could have contacted someone any time. WiFi was weak in the upper floor rooms, good in the downstairs carpark. I cannot fault the property, the price point was very high for the facilities, however the location was as good as you could get.

Cons:

It all came down to a perception of price vs quality, affordability vs value for money. I had arrived from Chiapas and was first stop in Guantana Roo and Yucatan. So Bacalar overall was suddenly very expensive and this accommodation just shocked me with the price vs quality ratio compared to what I had become used to after 6 weeks in Mexico. I soon got used to it as I travelled east through Yucatan, it is a very costly area of the country due to the mass USA package tourists. So you have to get used to it! I just could not grasp value for money in this hotel, despite the awesome location.

Superb
Pros:

Had a pleasant stay for 3 nights! Great location close to the main and right next to the public shore/access to the lagoon. Rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean. Reasonable pricing, flexible check-in and check-out, easy communication with the host!
