We were very disappointed with our stay.

We arrived at the hotel around 11:00 AM after disembarking from a cruise with our children, but we did not receive our room until 3:35 PM. During those four and a half hours, we repeatedly checked with reception and were continuously told to wait, even after the official check-in time.

The worst experience happened at approximately 3:00 AM during our first night. A large Wi-Fi speaker located next to the bed suddenly turned on by itself at maximum volume and started blasting music. It woke up the entire family, including our young children, who were frightened and unable to fall back asleep.

The room had several other issues as well: the blackout curtains would not close properly, the terrace light did not work, the TV kept turning itself on every few minutes displaying the hotel menu, and there was no sound on the TV. After multiple complaints, very little was done until I insisted on speaking with a manager.

The service policy was also disappointing. We were charged €5 for a bucket of ice and another €5 for a few plates and cutlery. We arrived for breakfast at 10:15 AM without knowing that breakfast ended at 10:30 AM. Nobody informed us of this, yet we were charged approximately €70 for two adults and a five-year-old child, only for breakfast service to end shortly afterwards.

The rooftop pool area was another disappointment. Some sunbeds and pool beds required an additional fee, which feels unreasonable considering the price already paid for the hotel.

Most disappointing of all, despite all these issues, the hotel offered no compensation, no discount, and no gesture of goodwill whatsoever.

Unfortunately, the level of service did not match the standard expected from a hotel in this category, and we would not choose to stay here again.

Exceptional, once again.
Pros:

I’ve stayed at SLS Barcelona several times, and every visit confirms why I keep coming back.

The experience starts as soon as you arrive. The on-site parking is very convenient, check-in is always quick and the reception team is genuinely warm, professional and welcoming. Being recognised as a returning guest and greeted in French was a wonderful touch.

I was delighted to be upgraded to one of my favourite rooms from previous stays. The personalised welcome card and fresh fruit waiting in the room made me feel truly valued.

The rooms are, in my opinion, among the most comfortable in Barcelona. The beds are exceptional, the design is elegant, peaceful and beautifully thought out, and every detail contributes to a relaxing stay.

Room service was flawless throughout my stay. A special mention goes to the vegan burger, which was absolutely delicious and honestly exceeded my expectations. It was one of the highlights of my stay and proves that SLS Barcelona takes plant-based dining seriously, without compromising on flavour or quality.

What makes this hotel truly special is its team. Thanks to their kindness and attention to detail, SLS Barcelona has become the hotel where I genuinely feel at home. I have stayed in many hotels across Barcelona, yet this is the one I always look forward to returning to.

Some guests may prefer to stay in the city centre, but I personally love this location by the sea. It is quieter, cooler during the summer and still offers easy access to Barcelona whenever you want it.

An outstanding stay from beginning to end. I can’t wait to come back.
