Margaret House

We had a really wonderful stay at Margaret House in Mirissa. The room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable, and the balcony was a lovely place to relax. The location is great, with only a short walk to the beach as well as nearby restaurants and small shops.

The hosts were incredibly kind, warm, and helpful, and they made us feel very welcome throughout our stay. The breakfast was very good – especially the fresh fruit, which was absolutely delicious.

In the afternoon there was a nice snack such as cake, small bites, or a light meal like a sandwich, which was a really thoughtful extra touch.

The owners’ brother offers tuk-tuk service and can help arrange taxi transport to the airport, which made everything very easy.

Overall, a fantastic place to stay that we would highly recommend to anyone visiting Mirissa.

Positive: Very nice bed and breakfast. The room was spacious and clean. The air conditioning and shower worked perfectly. The bathroom even had new toothbrushes and toothpaste. The bed is huge and comfy. The hosts were very welcoming. The breakfast was delicious. Every afternoon, there was a cake. The location is great: Turtle Beach is right next to the property. Mirissa's main beach and several restaurants are within easy walking distance – and the famous Coconut Tree Hill is even closer. It is directly on the very busy main road, but the windows, doors close perfectly.

The attractive room is luxuriously large, airy and light, with a high ceiling and big windows. Everything is new and the furnishings are high quality; beautiful wooden floors and doors, fabulous shower room, nice bed linen etc. We really enjoyed having a comfortable settee too - it made it easy to lounge in our air conditioned room in the hottest part of the day.
The hosts, and their family, make this a very special place. They are so welcoming and do everything they can to help you, and make you feel cared for. Sri Lankan hospitality at its best. And the food is a treat (and there is a lot of it!).
The accommodation is at the back of the main family house, so it does not suffer from road noise, and is only a minute's walk to the beach.

Wir waren 5 Nächte in dieser Unterkunft. Das Zimmer hat eine gehobene Ausstattung. Das Frühstück war hervorragend und hat keine Wünsche offen gelassen (Obst, Eier, Toast, Pancake, frischgepresster Saft etc). Nachmittags gab`s immer noch selbst gebackenen Kuchen. Die Lage ist sehr gut, in 5 Min ist man zu Fuß am Turtle Beach bzw. Coconut Tree Hill und in 10 Min. am Mirissa Beach. Die Familie ist sehr gastfreundlich und sehr herzlich.

Hands down our favorite accommodation in Sri Lanka. Peaceful, quiet, and the most stunning room! The best shower we had in Sri Lanka, HOT water, and pressure! The room is well maintained, very large and most importantly, when you stay on a main street, quiet. Our hosts were so lovely! Breakfast was exceptional, and just kept coming! Just a short walk over the road to Turtle Bay, where we did see turtles while snorkelling. Absolutely recommend

Tutto perfetto! Ospitalità al massimo! È stato come avere una seconda famiglia, a 5 stelle! Super consigliato! Se passate da Mirissa e dintorni, questa struttura merita di essere nella vostra lista! Famiglia dello Sri Lanka che ha trasformato la sua villa in una Guesthouse di eccezionale valore, sono stati anche la nostra famiglia per qualche giorno. Stanze pulite e nuovissime, bagno super! Dopo due giorni su 4 ci hanno anche pulito la stanza. L’ultimo giorno ci hanno fatto fare il late check out e ci hanno dato appoggio per tutta la giornata, con possibilità di utilizzare il bagno della stanza dato che non era occupata. Ospitalità, stanze fantastiche, e disponibilità al massimo! Non avremmo potuto chiedere di più! Colazione buonissima, omelette su toast, frutta e pancakes tutto home Made!

The host was very hospitable. Very caring and went above and beyond to make us comfortable. The location was also excellent. It is right opposite the turtle bay which makes it very convenient to go for early morning dips.

The room was big and very clean. Location is good in Mirissa on the main road and walking distance to Mirissa beach. The hosts are fantastic people who really made the stay exceptional with their hospitality and friendliness. Highly recommended for a stay in Mirissa!

kfast is very abundant, far beyond my expectations. The fruit platter, snacks, bread, eggs, juice, and fish are all delicious. Even when I come back late from whale watching at sea, they will thoughtfully prepare food. I really can't find a second place that is more attentive than them.

Something to know about Margaret House is that it was build in 2024 and that‘s the reason why there aren‘t many reviews yet.
It is located about 5 minutes from turtle beach and coconut island and 10 minutes from mirissa beach by foot. It is a big room with lots of space and a very nice comfortable bed. The bathroom also looks very nice, the shower has very good water pressure and even different shower heads. Everything was very clean. The owner and his family are very friendly and will make you one of the best (and biggest) breakfasts in Sri Lanka. On request they‘ll make your room everyday.
We really enjoyed staying here and would definitely come back.
