Beautiful venue overall, our room was very spacious and the private bath was great. Snacks and drinks and late night ramen were all really nice too. A beautiful place to stay
Not a massive deal but there aren’t a ton of food options outside of the hotel for dinner so it may be a good idea to have the dinner included. Price for dinner is a little pricey though considering how expensive the room is. Was also a little annoying having to pay a bath tax as we left, it wasn’t much (only about $3 AUD per day) but when you have already spent $650 a night it was a bit annoying.
We had a lovely and relaxing stay here for 4 nights. The staff were all really kind with a great level of English, and the hotel is beautiful. We really enjoyed both our private bath in the room and the public/private baths in the hotel. The views from the hotel are gorgeous. The location is very easy to reach, right next to the bus stop in Shuzenji Onsen which has regular buses to Shuzenji station. The free coffee and tea 24/7 was a great addition, also with free snacks and water in the room. We loved that housekeeping was optional, meaning we could be completely undisturbed.
We found the food quite disappointing, in particular the "western-style breakfast" which didn't feel in any way western. We ended up getting breakfast elsewhere one morning. We had the dinner one night and found it hit-or-miss. While the traditional style is very charming, it is in parts in need of major refurbishment. For example, the private bath in our room had clearly been messily patched up, the tap was covered in limescale, and the fence blocking the bath from view of the car park was very damaged and thin, meaning we didn't feel fully comfortable in the bath. It would also have been nice if the soft drinks could be available throughout the day, not just after 2pm. We also would have liked if we could have gone onto the rope bridge, but this was only possible for guests staying in a particular section of the hotel. Perhaps the security gate could be placed at the far side of the bridge so all guests could access it?
Le charme authentique de l'hôtel, de ses bains anciens.
L'offre des repas un peu limitée dans l'hôtel et ses environs en semaine.
We had a magical stay, everything is so beautiful and serene. The rooms are stunning and the onsen in the room and outdoor onsen were amazing. We only used private onsen as we were too shy to use public but they are stunning. The food feels very authentic and we loved the free drinks area so we could sit and enjoy the pond. The location over the river is incredible
When we arrived to drop our bags the staff at the door could have been more welcoming. The snack meals are very authentic but a little hard on a less adventurous palate. The carpets could do with an update
Sound of nature (river beside),Very good Onsen,Meals delicious
It is unique place with exceptional atmosphere. The building is maze like old place, but it has modern parts too. We spent two nights at one of newer buidings, room was spatious and very tidy, despite it being new it was biult and finished in traditional way, only wood, stone and paper, high quality materials (with exception to tatami). Our private bath was half opened and very comfortable. Public baths, especially open air ones were amazing at night. Between baths we enjoyed accesible coffe room and picked some ice cream (very good ones). Localisation is good, near the bus stop, there is plenty to see around and some nice forest paths to enjoy too.
With this price and standard it would be nice if staff could place our luggage in our room as it arrived before us. Tatami mats in new buildings are sadly made of plastic taking a bit from overall sensation.
Beautiful setting with a river running through the hotel and a lush garden terrace. Great facilities with multiple onsens including an outdoor one that I had to myself the twice I visited. Room very comfortable. We loved the free ice creams and drinks.
Check in wasn’t till 4 and until then we weren’t allowed to enter the property, only leave our bags at the door.
Onsen were closed 10-3.
環境、雰囲気がよかった。
2階の部屋だったので、階段の上り下りに少し疲れた。
還暦祝いの相談をかなり前にしたのを旅館の方が覚えてくれていて、最終日にお風呂に浮かべるヒノキをくれた。
