My husband had a great time in the Northern Hotel, visiting family in Edzell and Montrose. He praised the owners, felt very welcome and is determent to bring the whole family next year.
Room was comfortable and clean. Had a good night's sleep.
The bathroom, while clean and the shower worked fine, was a bit weird. The room was an accessible room for disabilities it appears. The radiator was fitted on the wall in a somewhat random fashion and some of the decor was a bit tired. None of this impacted our stay and we would stay there again ( have stayed previously).
Superbly friendly and attentive staff
Easily accessible central location with its own carpark
High quality food at a very reasonable price
Clean and welcoming staff
Breakfast should always be included in the price of your stay
The family, who run this hotel, treat guests as very valued and welcome friends, and their staff with courtesy and consideration.
Despite my enthusiastic report, do not expect a building with considerable kerb appeal. My heart sank when I approached this tired building with shabby, exterior paintwork and rotting windows. But the warm reception we received on entering the property immediately changed my perception.
I didn't have breakfast.
A bath mat for the shower would have been helpful
Location was fine
Carpet in bedroom not fit for purpose, cushions curtains all dirty marks and stained
Excellent location in town centre
Dinner and breakfast expensive for what you get. Disappointing steak pie. Traffic noise.
No reception staff on in the morning we left, it was in darkness. We came down for breakfast at 08.30am and unfortunately none available. No one around to ask .
The staff and the food was very good
Nothing really
Street noise
Erg vriendelijk en gastvrij
Alles was erg gedateerd. Je kunt zien dat het ooit een mooi hotel is geweest met Schotse accenten. Nu is het een beetje vergane glorie en dat is jammer. Er zou weer een heleboel in geïnvesteerd moeten worden om er weer een florerende plek van te maken.
I know the hotel well and stay there when visiting home.
Nothing
Room was very dated, room fridge was extremely noisy, room was dusty.
