The look and feel of the building and the decor
Our room on the top floor over looked the conference area where a wedding party was being held - so we picked up a lot of the noise and activity from the event in our room

Great reception service. I arrived with a bicycle, and they helped me to store that overnight. Room was comfy and breakfast was great, but the price was excessively high for what was provided.

The rooms were creatively and beautifully decorated. Rooms were comfortable and updated. Staff from reception to the bar were accommodating, kind, and efficient.
The details oriented owners have thought of EVERYTHING to make the rooms comfortable. We also got upgraded which never happens, so we were very appreciative. Service for supper was very attentive. We liked that there was both a pre-breakfast buffet in the foyer, followed by a made-to-order breakfast. We adored the Scottish theme decorated rooms, as well as the reading nooks in the turrets for children and adults alike. Bravi to the owners!

Amazing rooms. Friendly staff. The included breakfast was great. We liked the pub.
Unfortunately the kitchen was down when we were there so we can’t comment on the dinner. However, there are good restaurants in walking distance.
The staff are wonderful - friendly and professional. The rooms are beautifully decorated.
We stayed a Friday night - there was a wedding reception on which went on to midnight - our room (Hairy Coo Room) looked directly onto the conservatory / room where the wedding reception was held. By 23:15 we asked if we could be relocated to a quieter part of the hotel in case the music carried on past midnight, which thankfully we were. Unfortunately that room (Whiskey Room) had an almost continuous loud noise in the ceiling - assuming it was other guests use of the toilets next door and above in respect of the extractor fans (and not turning the lights off). It was not a great night. Felt awkward requesting another move for the night, so just put up with it. Perhaps the hotel could have notified us prior, so we could make other arrangements, or at least put us in a room away from the wedding from the beginning. Not sure if we would have experienced the same extractor fan issue in the first room - altho we did notice a note in that room about this. Such a pity that extractor fans cannot be turned off overnight so guests can sleep. Can't fault the staff though, and the breakfast was great, but we won't be back when we visit Ayr again.
