We liked everything.
There was nothing we did not like.
In this part of the world and at this price point, it is not often that one comes upon a place like Shanol Residency.
Clean, comfortable, and refined, Boutique may well describe it.
Our 4 nights were memorable.
Our host family is warm, welcoming, and helpful.
We enjoyed our stay immensely and highly recommend it.
We didn't like that we had to leave quite as soon as we needed to.
Hotel and breakfast was really good. Rooms were spacious and clean. Best place for stay in gangtok.
Food was just like home food. They take good care of the guests.
No ATMs near by. However, this is true for most part of Gangtok.
The owner is very friendly and nice and her service is praiseworthy. The rooms were clean and whatever we needed the owner gave us. The food was delicious and hygienic. My husband got upset stomach from the trip and she prepared whatever food we asked for. That was very considerate of her.
The location is also not bad at all. There is a grocery store right next to the building.
The only thing that we didn't like was our room window to the other apartment's kitchen but that was not too bad.

Really pleasant stay that is run by a warm and hospitable family. Yashaswi was kind enough and always available to guide us in planning our travel around Gangtok and Sikkim.
The room, bathroom and overall property is quite neat and well kept.
Food was quite homely and delicious as well.
The property location is just near by to the main market area ( MG road )..and location and room is fantabulous, cozy and comfortable, neet and clean and very excellent decorated ( feels like home away from home )…!!

The staff is extensively supportive in every thing . We had a very comfortable stay and the overall experience was great. Breakfast was really yum. A big thanks to Yashaswi for making our stay so much comfortable.

The breakfast was very good, The host, Yashaswi, is very friendly and supportive in general. I appreciated this very much.
Just the location was a bit out of the way. Walking to the centre takes approx. 20min. But a taxi can be taken easily.
An excellent accommodation. The hotel had a spacious room, comfortable bed, and clean bathroom. The host was very enthusiastic and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. I would highly recommend staying here whenever in Gangtok. The location was in a central part of town.
The road leading up to the accommodation was quite steep. I would not recommend walking. Need to get a vehicle. But this is just what Gangtok is like, I suppose. I would still stay here next time I am in Gangtok.
Hospitality , Food, Homely environment
Wonderful homestay/residency. Run by a lovely family who went above and beyond to accommodate me. I had to go trekking for a few days and they were kind enough to keep a bag for me and then allow me to come back and say in the same room I had left. Its also the cleanest place I have stayed in in India by a mile - everything felt modern and updated. Food is great too. Would happily come back again to stay :)
Internet is a bit on and off but thats just Sikkim in general in my experience. People should also be aware that its a steep walk up to get to the centre but you can get shared cabs from around the corner easily - I never waited more than a couple of minutes. I would cab up and then enjoyed the walk back down from MG Marg through the neighbourhoods.
