The whole experience was exceptional. Massive rice barn conversion with all the amenities and facilities you could wish for. The included dinner, in the restaurant, was incredibly good and showcased local cuisine. Breakfast was delivered to our room (with an unexpected side of earthquake!) and it was delicious. All in all its worth the splurge, in a wonderful small town, with well preserved Edo period houses, many of which you can visit. I wish we could have stayed more than one night, two would have been perfect. All the staff in reception and restaurant were charming and accommodating. A very enjoyable stay, one of our highlights in our trip to Japan
Nothing
You are actually staying in a house that resembles all the samurai houses that make this little, sleepy town famous.
it’s a half board concept, breakfast was great (all Japanese fyi), diner was a tiny bit underwhelming, considering the wonderful setup and atmosphere.
We truly enjoyed our stay, even though it was only for one night.
The room we stayed in was located in what used to be the storehouse of a samurai castle. It was an enormous two-story suite.
The renovation is exceptional, with carefully preserved historical features and thoughtfully selected period details throughout. Every decorative element and even the tableware perfectly matched the atmosphere. The room was spotlessly clean, the craftsmanship and attention to detail were outstanding, and everything was finished to the highest standard.
The private onsen-style bath was a unique and memorable experience.
The service was exceptional from start to finish. The staff were warm, attentive, and provided hospitality of the highest standard.
Dinner at the adjacent restaurant was outstanding. Every course was even better than the last.
Thea only minor drawback just as a note was that there is no bathroom on the sleeping floor. If you need to get up during the night, you have to be careful of the low wooden beams.
Everything. The place itself is amazing, a former samurai house. It felt very special. The decor is tasteful, they tried to really keep within local craftsmanship (you can buy the cups elsewhere in town, miso soup is fermented locally, etc) and it is very thoughtful.
The staff was amazingly helpful in every aspect.
Genuinely loved the place.
Nothing really.
Great and very unique property. Food was very tasty, and surrounding city most interesting.
Wifi was slow.
Exit light sign in the room was quite bright.
- The room and its interior
- We stayed in the Sakurabito, the garden view was very lovely.
- Both dinner and breakfast were really nice. Expecially, dinner with the fusion style.
Amazing place to stay. Very traditional samurai accommodation. Most attractions within walking distance. Onsen bath was very relaxing. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Would 100% stay here again.

This property was owned by a bushi/ samurai now converted into 6 guest rooms, a restaurant and a reception. Each room has its own design and is decorated differently. We stayed in the Bushi-gura. The room was very clean and functional. Spacious and nicely decorated. Staff were exceptional. We were traveling with my 93 year old mother. They accommodated our requests and needs. I will definitely recommend this place and hope to go back.
None.
Exceptionnel.
