The hotel is ideally situated for walking or just exploring the Lake District.
Our bedroom was extremely tired and in desperate need of a refurb. Talking to other guests who found the same it was gossip that the owners have put the hotel up for sale which may explain the hotels situation.
That said everywhere was scrupulously clean.
The rooms were very warm, we had to turn down the radiator.
On a massive plus side, the bar is well stocked, and the restaurant produces home cooked food which restores my faith in chefs ability to prepare food for large numbers of people. Every night, a new venue! Hot food, with well thought out menus containing some innovative ideas.
Would I go again....of course!
Called in for a pint after a walk. Good range of drinks at a reasonable price. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Best of all a nice clear sign on the door saying no dogs, such a pleasant change. Well done. We will be back.
