Location

Good breakfast, plenty of choice, friendly helpful staff, comfortable bed, great view from bedroom window (front of hotel).
I only ate in the bar side of the hotel, food was a little expensive, due to the nature of it's location signal wasn't great.
Location
Ancient looks like something from the 1980s very dated
The staff especially Sam & Mathew absolutely make the place!
All the staff are grafters but these two stood out.
Sam should be the manager she sorts everything out.
Abit dated & no air vent of any type in the bathroom
Staff were all really friendly, helpful and well trained.
Food was tasty and well cooked.
Excellent location for a walking base with plenty of parking.
Decor was a little tired and looked ready for a refresh. Pillows were a bit too firm although the beds were comfortable.
Great location and lovely staff
All was good
location excellent ,breakfast really good and bar food really good

We've been coming to Patterdale and the surrounding area for over 35 years and have always stayed nearby as our base for exploring the Lake District. This was our first stay at the Patterdale Hotel, and we honestly wondered why we'd never stayed here before!
From the moment we arrived, we received a warm welcome from the friendly and helpful staff, who gave us all the information we needed. Our room was comfortable and clean. Yes, the décor is a little dated in places, but when you're surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in the country, you're not spending much time in your room anyway.
The food was excellent, with plenty of choice, and breakfast was lovely. There wasn't any black pudding, but that's hardly a deal-breaker when everything else is so good!
There are lots of comfortable communal areas to relax in after a day's walking or sightseeing. In fact, we never even switched the TV on—there was simply no need.
All in all, we had a fantastic stay and wouldn't hesitate to book again. The Patterdale Hotel is a great base for exploring this beautiful part of the Lake District, and we're already looking forward to returning.
Patterdale/Glenridding is a fantastic base for exploring the Lake District, and after 35 years of visiting the area as a couple, we finally decided to give this hotel a try. We certainly weren't disappointed.
From the moment we arrived, we received a warm welcome. The reception staff were friendly, informative, and made both check-in and check-out quick and straightforward.
The hotel was clean, and our room was comfortable. While some areas are a little dated, it really doesn't matter when you have such stunning scenery right on the doorstep—you won't be spending much time in your room anyway.
The food was delicious, the communal areas were pleasant and relaxing, and breakfast was very good too. The only thing missing was black pudding, but that's hardly a deal-breaker.
Overall, this hotel offers great value for money, and we'll definitely be staying here again.
Lovely location, and nice, clean room. Decent food, and nice atmosphere, especially considering it has only recently transitioned to new ownership. Will definetly come back if I'm in the area again sometime in the future!
The Patterdale is excellent value for money, lovely food, super location. Easy access for walks right from the hotel. The car stayed parked for 4 days. Lovely swims in Ullswater at Silver Bay. Highly recommended.
Food was terrible. I ordered steak pie and fish and chips. The worse food. When the pie arrived, just a small portion with hardly any meat and the pastry was so hard. The only things I liked about the place was the location. I wish I read the reviews before.
Patterdale is the ideal location to walk into Glennridding for the lake, steamer landing, food and drink, shops and tourist information centre. It takes 20 minutes to walk there. The only complaints were the food at breakfast and in the restaurant could have been hotter and as the room was so hot a fan would have helped make it more comfortable. The room was clean and the restaurant was spacious . The bed and pillows were comfy. The beer garden was large with plenty of seating. On our first day we had a cooked meal in Glenridding at lunchtime. We would have liked a sandwich for tea but the bar at the hotel only served sandwiches until 5 pm and we weren't ready to eat at 5 pm. There were four cooked meals and pizza served from 5 pm to 8 pm so one of our party had pizza and the rest of us had a cooked meal. There were four choices of starter, main and dessert in the restaurant. You could have two or three courses. The food was tasty, good quality and there was plenty of it. The sausages at breakfast were delicious and there was lots of variety, cereals including porridge, fruit, fruit juice ,yogurt, cooked breakfast and brown and white bread. There was as much tea or coffee as you wanted. You could ask for egg on toast, boiled eggs, kippers, glutton free bread and an alternative to cow's milk. I enjoyed all the food we had in the hotel. We stayed on a Wednesday when it was Happy Hour between 8 pm and 9 pm. Two types of beer and three types of wine were for sale at a reduced price. There was a female singer performing and she was really good. I wouldn't hesitate to come back and stay at the Patterdale Hotel.
Great service and food.Very authentic place.Nice garden, staff were very lovely.Definitely will be back.
My husband and I have had a lovely stay- yes the hotel is tired and needs upgrading but the staff make up for it in bucketfuls. Fabulous location- lovely food - try their pizza it’s hard to beat.
I am told there are future plans for an upgrade - it is currently a very affordable stay with good value for money.
A most wonderful time at this amazing hotel.
This was our 19th stay at the Patterdale Hotel. The hotel is now under new ownership and some changes have taken place as you would expect. I am sure there will be more changes but of course these will take time to implement. The new staff although not as experienced as previous staff were very friendly and helpful. They made every effort to make the guests feel very welcome. We look forward to returning again soon.
