The pool was nice. There are sometimes turtles showing up on the property, which I found pretty cool. There are dogs and a cat too, so if you´re an animal lover that is a plus. Room was airconditioned, which honestly was a must!
The bunk beds are 3-tier and not very comfortable, but it was alright in the middle bunk. Lockers for bags are good. Many beds looked like someone was already staying in them, even when they were supposed to be fresh and clean. Hopefully just sloppy work with the bedding.
My biggest disappointment however, was not so much the hostel but the diving operation he also runs. I had signed all papers and paid for my experience a day in advance, but the morning of the scheduled dive he didn't show up. Because of that, I had to change my travel plans and stay a day longer than planned. When we eventually did go diving the following day, my regulator was faulty and leaking air. He forgot to bring any extra equipment, so I was a bit disappointed that my dives were cut short because my air run out. Other than that, the actual dive was nice.
There was a bit back and forth regarding the compensation of his no-show, with promises that were not followed up, and ending with disappointment. I ended up booking the dives on my last day with a different operator, where everything went smoothly and professional.
The staff were amazing - knowledgeable and friendly - and made you feel part of their dive / travel family. Dive centre onsite was super convenient.

Tolles Hostel. Etwas abgelegen, aber das weiss man ja bevor man bucht. Tauchgänge waren super und Stimmung im Hostel war mega. Steve O ist der beste.

I stayed actually much, much longer than planned. It was more than a hostel. It was a real home with great people. There was an atmosphere of happiness, good vibes, tolerance, tranquility. Open minded guests from all over the world mostly stayed for Scubadiving. Rudy, Pepe, Stevo, who run this place became good buddies. The advantages of staying here cannot be seen in the description of the hostel. You have to live and experience it. A few times a week, friends came over, enjoying with the guests (never too many, it is a kind of small hostel) Barbecue evenings, often with live music, everybody with instruments was joining. Party time until morning. And for the connoisseurs of real summer life, they created a place to play Boule. The most common things you were hearing (ok, some barking dogs from the other side of the street and some motos) were laughter, story telling, sharing diving experiences, and the pure existence of living and enjoying the moment. 24 hours a day you were part of all that.
A pool right in front of you invited you anytime to jump into it and cool off. Then maybe sunbathing on the hot stones of the pooledge or reading a book. Or just sipping a cold beer.
These three guys (Rudy, Pepe and Stevo) created this atmosphere. Come as a stranger, leave as a friend. Within a very short time each guest felt the same and the smile on their faces was permanent. The cute cat Coco and the very special dog Mako were another line to draw a picture of a relaxed, but still full of different actions and possibilities created home.

Bed, toilets, shower, a/c, security all were good. There were pets: dog, cat, turtles, iguanas, and birds. The garden and pool were great. Staff worked hard to keep it all going. CasaMaya has a lively, interesting atmosphere, lots of socializing, divers coming and going, BBQs and music. Scooters & bikes available. Taxis and tuk-tuks will come to the door. Kitchen is small but adequate. 2 fridges, beer is allowed.
CasaMaya is 2k from the ferry and 2.5k from the nearest useable beach at Playa Caletita. *00 meters from a large grocery store, but an OXXO is just around the corner. No buses on Cozumel, so going to the beach is expensive by taxi or tuk-tuk. 500 pesos to rent a scooter, 200 pesos for a bicycle. The best free beaches are 20 kilometers away on the east side. 7K to the Sky Reef Bar for snorkeling & facilities. There are small, difficult spots along the coast to get into the ocean, but Cozumel is not a place to come for beaches, compared to Cancun, Playa, Tulum, Mujeres, Morelos, or especially Holbox which is the best on the Yucatan Peninsula.
Great vibes, even if you don't dive. Lots of nice chats and adventures with fellow travelers. These guys know how to run a hostel that's both comfy and fun. Whether you want to hang out and socialize, or just chill out in a hammock, there's lots of space to accommodate all.

It feels like a family vacation house, where the environment is very friendly and all the people are super nice! The staff is also very nice! They offer dive lessons and there you can also rent a moto directly which makes it easier.
The bathroom was always a little bit dirty and the house is a little bit “far” from the city center but apart from that very good place to stay!
Great vibe. People at the place make you feel part of the family, especially if you dive. I like the dog, and I could work from the kitchen with great wiFi.
Hmm, expect rooms filled with people. Sometimes the noise and the lights can be a problem, so make sure to pack some earplugs and an eye mask.
