Great staff but the hotel could be so so so much better with just a little more effort
Pros:

We had a 1 week stay with our 5 month old baby. Enjoyed overall but it could be so much better …

First and foremost, every member of staff was incredibly friendly & helpful. Nothing was ever too much of an ask, and the staff always responded with a smile. I feel compelled to give a special mention to Angelo on the front desk, and Pasan & Manjula from maintenance. We had an issue with our room, and they were all a great help in getting the issue rectified.

Cons:

Sadly, the hotel itself is a bit tired overall. It needs some TLC. There a few things that should be considered to improve the customer experience. I’m informed that the hotel is part of the John Keels group, so I’m pretty sure there is money to spend on some simple improvements. Some constructive criticism below:

- The key card system doesn’t work. We had to get a new card every time we wanted to go to our room. And I know we weren’t the only ones. Tiresome.
- Great buffet breakfast, but nowhere near enough space to house all guests. People and tables were on top of each other. Not a nice experience.
- The pool and bar area is too congested with nowhere near enough shaded space. There is a whole row of beds running down the left side of the pool without a single umbrella for shade. Would it be too much of an ask to add 4 or 5 extra umbrellas down that side ?
- The small narrow garden that runs by the lake (down the steps from the pool) is such a lovey area, but it’s totally underused. Why not grass the whole area next to the lake and put more sun loungers - in small bays of two beds with a table. Have a bell on each table to ring up to the pool bar for drink / food service. Would be a nice touch and also ease the congestion round the pool.
- The lake itself is very dirty with lots of litter on the shores near the hotel. Clean daily?
- The bar / live music venue … is it really necessary to be pumping out loud music up until midnight . Our baby couldn’t sleep, and I know other rooms also had complaints about this. It’s great having a bar, but maybe consider the hotel guests who don’t appreciate the noise when trying to sleep.
- Wine options. I know Sri Lanka is not really the place for drinking wine, but be good to have a few options. There was only 1 bottle of white to choose from?!

Enjoyable hotel with helpful and friendly staff. The concierge was knowable and very helpful.
Pros:

The breakfast menu was extensive and enjoyable. The room was comfortable, clean and quiet The pool was lovely and the staff around the pool were efficient and friendly. Enjoyed the Chinese buffet for Chinese New Year.

Cons:

There was nothing that we did not like at this hotel.

Pros:

The evening buffet was good

Cons:

The first room they showed us smelled!! We paid an extra supplement to upgrade to an executive room! The room is tired, dirty toilet, pillows and mattress cheap and uncomfortable, but the worse thing was being woken up at 8am by workmen hammering above and the DJ from a very loud party thinking it was ok to do a sound check at 8.30am. The pool was too warm the sun loungers really uncomfortable and the extremely loud music from a party happening at the side of the pool meant you couldn’t relax!! No apologies

Great hotel in the heart of Colombo overlooking Beira Lake.
Pros:

Awesome location, overlooking Beira Lake and close to the city centre. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean. The pool was large and so inviting after a day out in Columbo. The coffee shop (beneath reception) made good coffee and toasted sandwiches.

Cons:

The restaurant was crowded and in my opinion a bit small for a hotel of this size. I would have liked a few more loungers around the pool.

Cons:

J’ai séjourné 5 nuits dans cet hôtel et malheureusement l’expérience a été très décevante.

Pendant tout mon séjour, il y avait d’importants travaux dans l’hôtel, notamment dans la chambre juste à côté de la mienne. Les nuisances sonores étaient constantes, rendant le repos impossible. Les travaux commençaient dès 10h chaque jour.

En plus de cela, un mariage a été organisé sur plusieurs jours (les deux jours avant et le jour suivant), avec beaucoup de bruit autour de la piscine, notamment lors du montage et démontage d’une énorme tonnelle. Là encore, aucune tranquillité à aucun moment.

Que ce soit dans la chambre ou à la piscine, il n’y a jamais eu de calme durant tout mon séjour. Le niveau de confort a été très en dessous de ce que l’on peut attendre.

J’ai envoyé plusieurs mails pour signaler la situation, mais je n’ai reçu aucune réponse, ni geste commercial, ni communication de la part de l’établissement.

Je n’ai jamais connu un tel manque de considération pour les clients. Très décevant.
