There was no breakfast offered was told to go to the shop across the road. I liked how old the pub was and its colonial style with a huge beer garden. It was close enough to the venue I attended on the Friday night.
No air conditioning, thank goodness it wasn’t too hot and the ceiling fans worked well. Shared shower bathrooms. I’m in the position that I need a toilet closer of a night time due to frequent use.
Location for the event. Very Friendly staff.
Door lock wasn't secure enough on room. Safety concern.
Ok the food was nice
The rooms were dirty in the corners the timber bed frames were also dusty and both bed lamps had blown their globes - The shared bathroom the corners of the rooms had dirt and grime and there were cobwebs hanging above the shower- I pointed out to staff that the UHT milk in the fridge was dated August 25 Expiry - the sugar tea and coffee were in rusty canisters
Way over priced for what you get and it was grubby in the rooms -
Who ever is cleaning the rooms and bathrooms needs a lesson in cleaning
What Breakfast was not offered, Location very noisy
No TV or Airconditioning. No soap provided, no loose sheet on bed, wifi kept dropping out. Not value for money
Loved the room and had a share fridge for guests outside.
Late night deliveries not ideal but such is life..
Funky hotel with an interesting history. Good restaurant on the ground floor.
Billinudgel is not a hopping town.
Good location great helpful staff but no airconditioning in rooms and shared bathroom
The pub itself was great. Large, iconic old style pub rocking along nicely on the day/night we visited (29 Dec 25) with its history plastered on its walls along with a lot of other memorabilia. Very interesting place. Great staff. No nonsense but good friendly service and up for a chat when able. Meals were good value, plenty to eat and good. Was an indoor eating area seperate from the bar but we chose to sit in the large outdoor eating area out the back of the pub. Large lawned area adjoined which allowed young kids to play but in perfect safety. Big carpark area belonging to the pub down one side. Not sealed so no probs in the dry. Be interesting when she teemed.
Accommodation was on the first floor. Henry Lawson would remember it if he came back because it looks still all original. Our room #4 was smallish. Two doorways, one locked off so we entered from the verandah. No key codes, just the old Lockwood and a key. I’d say original wooden floor. Big comfy bed in the room - which to be fair took up most of the space in the room, couple of reading lights, some double power points, some of which worked, and a ceiling fan. Couple of hooks on the wall were only hanging space. Shared bathroom down the hallway and around the corner. One for the girls, one for the guys. Gents had a basin, shower and toilet.
Loved the romance of it and perfect if you’re backpacking (except the price which I’ll come to later) but not for those lugging cases. As it was I had a back pack and my other half just grabbed her toiletries bag from the car - and a spare top and pair of knickers and she was sorted.
Now if all this sounds like a litany of complains it’s not, we both loved the place, this is just a description of what it was.
The tariff. Good luck to them cashing in over the holiday season but the room itself, as much as we both loved the pub, the patrons, the food, the staff and the night in general, wasn’t worth the $230 ( from memory - might have been a bit more or less but it was over $200). Having said that as I hadn’t pre booked any accommodation in the area (we didn’t know how far up the coast we were going to make it that day) beggars can’t be choosers so it was what it was and it was the cheapest option left of any remaining accommodation in the Brunswick Heads or close by areas. Also no air con. Not a problem for us on that night as it was a beautiful 24 - 26C with very little humidity so the ceiling fan did the job.
This is a very old hotel located in a town with basically no other shops except a General Store and a Pizza restaurant/bakery. There is a garden surrounding the back of the pub with lots of tables and chairs and a stage set up.
It’s historic and very nice however……!
I booked in for a 2 night stay on 28/12 at an incredible cost of $200 per night. A basic room with no mirror and a window that would not stay open and had to be propped open with a mug I got from the kitchen. A shared bathroom and no shampoo only a wrapped soap the size of a matchbox. I could hear someone snoring all night in a surrounding room. In all it was an ok stay if you need a clean comfortable bed.
I don't recommend this place at all. It's very old, beds and walls are dusty and have spider webs plus the music from downstairs can be heard loudly in the bedrooms.
The way they have kept it traditional.
No air conditioning in summer
