Really good location, nice clean area, beautiful gardens. Staff super nice. Dog friendly which I appreciate.
Been there while heatwave and room was slightly too hot but survived
There was nothing me and my partner didn’t like about this place. Was beautiful and the staff were so friendly thank you!
Location was great for us touring around North Devon, breakfast was amazing including dinner. Kentisbury Grange was a fantastic place with a lovely walk around the grounds & the staff were fantastic.
N/A
brkky and dinner
nothing
The breakfast was very good and served piping hot
The food, the service and the accommodation were excellent
Lovely large rooms and bathrooms and large comfy bed
Friendly staff
Everything is starting to look quite tired and shabby, which is a shame as it was always our go to place for luxury, having been many times before, I think this was sadly our last.
There always used to be a wide selection of teas, coffees, fresh milk, complimentary water in the rooms plus a little welcome treat upon arrival. Which you’d expect from a luxury hotel. None of that now though.
Food in the coach house has gone very downhill. My starter was mussels and clams and there were more clam shells than clams which were in themself tiny and over cooked. It was also cold. My husband’s scallops were also overcooked
I had the lamb rump for main and it was very tough, only about 4/5 small slices and absolutely swimming in oil, I couldn’t eat the gnocchi and veg it came with as far too oily. They did kindly take that off my bill though.
Breakfast was ok…again not the buffet selection like they used to have and my husbands poached eggs were overcooked.
Such a shame as this used to be the best hotel and food in the area
Fantastic atmosphere, friendly staff, food was fantastic, location was brilliant and lovely to get back to after a busy day driving around local attractions
Great location. Friendly staff. Helpful manager.
The restaurant did not have vegetarian options; although the manager went out of his way to ensure we had a good meal.
The location, grounds and room were lovely.
The hot tub didn’t work, the heating hadn’t been switched on, the food was not good and customer service needs improvement. Although I have to say the young lady on the bar who is supervisor was brilliant and very professional and helpful.
We stayed in one of the garden cottages which was tucked away from the main buildings but easily accessible to main house. The cottage was clean and well maintained with lovely furnishings. There were plenty of biscuits, coffee etc and mini fridge.
It was so peaceful and there was lots of space and the bathroom was huge , I loved the lighting especially the little light by the toilet which stayed on so you can see at night! The roll top bath looked impressive although I did not use. Towels and robes were generous and soft 🙂.
The grounds are lovely and we sat by the pond watching the ducks, relaxing with a drink on our arrival. At that time Mark told us about the areas we could visit and what was available. Thank You.
The Coach House looked promising but there was something not quite right with the food situation. Having been told that the food was of fine dining standard then maybe our expectations were too high. We arrived on the Monday to be told that there was only one cut of steak available so we opted for the pork belly which sounded ideal with its peach and feta salsa which worked well. However the pork was tough and the usual pork belly crackling was missing. Dessert was okay but could have been fancier as three scoops of icecream looked quite sad in a white China bowl all alone. I had the chocolate brownie which was good but again looked lonely on that plate with a bit of chocolate sauce and an icecream scoop.
Breakfast left us wanting and I was surprised at the little thought which had gone into the buffet. The cereal choices were Rice Krispies, Cornflakes (2 varieties ) and Cocoa Pops. Where was the Granola, Whole Grain choice or Muesli? There were croissants which were so tiny and looked like the type you would pop into a child’s lunchbox. Fruit and toffee yogurts were available but no plain. Where was the fresh fruit (it is strawberry season and melon is always plentiful). The lack of healthy options was noticeable. The cooked breakfast came with sausages which looked very pale and the bacon curled round (it needed the fat snipping to stop this happening). On the second morning we were informed that sausages were not available, just as well we didn’t want them!
Our hope was to use this restaurant for most of our stay as it is advertised well on the website as doing bar food etc but we were never given that choice on our first night and the fine dining menu was presented and the bill was just short of £100 with which we had a small glass of Sauvignon blanc and a pint of cider for my husband. I wouldn’t have minded the cost had the standard been spot on.
Restaurant staff really lovely, especially Abbey and Shaun.. Jacuzzi nice and hot upon arrival. Spacious room, easy parking. Sadly no time to explore the grounds as raining the whole time there. Close to the Exmoor zoo. Food superb.
