The location is excellent, however the room had a bad smell, its supposed to be non smoking, I think recent occupants ignored this rule. We had room 10 and whoever is in the room below had their TV on until gone 3am. Cleaning standards are poor... the shared bathroom and kitchen areas particularly poor. There was no toilet paper and had to request some. I would not recommend this accommodation in its current state, which is a shame as it has potential to be a decent accomodation if there was some investment and better cleaning. It is more of a hostel than a hotel and should be advertised more transparently as such.
Nothing was unique. The facility has a shared toilet. The place is untidy and dusty.
When I got to Macclesfield Lodge, there was no sign to tell you where to go when we rang they came out to the door when we went in. I couldn’t believe how dirty the place was. The kitchen was filthy. The toilet was unbelievable Bad the window in the room had a hole in it where cardboard was blocking the hole. I didn’t stay long stayed for two hours and left it was that bad. If anyone thinks about going to this place, think again.
An amazing places
A terrible place to stay. Shared bathroom was covered in hair, mouldy soap bar, empty hand wash and old flannels / sponges left to grow mould from the other residents. I ended up not showering for 2 days because I’d be cleaner not doing so.
Kitchen had used baking trays left over it, people’s underwear left on the kitchen sides where they use the washing machine.
Bed was comfy enough and TV in the room. Bottle of water provided too. Guy on the front desk was friendly and professional enough, but it’s the property that lets this place down.
By no means am I a snob but this place really was a dive.
We booked two double beds and got one double. Single glazed window so you can hear everything and the church bells ring every 15 mins. People swearing and arguing for over an hour. This is not a hotel, it’s a hostel/HMO with shared bathroom and long term rentals.
Good
