Best hotel in Ahangama!

We had such an amazing stay here and honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The place itself is absolutely beautiful and has such a lovely vibe. From the moment we arrived, we felt incredibly welcomed and taken care of.

The breakfast is wonderful, and the food is one of the highlights of the whole stay. The Sri Lankan curry and rice is absolutely incredible, some of the best food we’ve had during our trip! Everything we ate was delicious. Even though we were visiting during the low season, the team went out of their way to make sure we could still enjoy things we wanted from the menu. They even brought in ingredients especially for us. It really showed how much they care about their guests.

There is a happy hour every day, and they also organize movie nights, which are such lovely touches. But what really makes this place special are all the little details, always having water ready for us and turning on the fans as soon as we sat down, for example. Nothing feels like too much trouble.

And the staff are amazing. Everyone is incredibly kind, attentive and helpful. A special mention to Samo and Nalin, but honestly, every single person working here seems genuinely committed to making sure the guests are happy.

They also helped us arrange a fantastic safari trip and prepared a packed lunch for us to take with us. And when we realized we weren’t ready to leave, they made it so easy for us to extend our stay.

We originally planned to stay for 7 nights, but ended up staying 9 nights because we loved it so much.

This place is more than just a beautiful hotel. It’s the amazing food, the wonderful vibe, the incredibly kind staff and all the thoughtful little details that make you feel so welcome.

Room, staff and food!

The place is amazing. Spotless, perfumed and fresh. Pool is cristal clean. Staff is amazingly nice and polite. Overall is the best place to stay in Ahangama no doubt. Would definitely recommend.

I really loved the style and attention to detail throughout this boutique hotel, from the beautiful décor and spaces to the presentation and quality of the food.

The food was a real highlight of my stay. I opted for breakfast included and there was a great selection to choose from, all made with fresh ingredients. One evening, they prepared a Sri Lankan tuna rice and curry for me, and it was genuinely the best meal I’ve had during my weeks travelling around Sri Lanka!

The staff were incredibly friendly and provided great service throughout. I was also able to rent a scooter directly through the hotel, and they were always happy to help with recommendations.

There were some lovely extra touches too, including a film night with a projector during my stay, which created a really nice atmosphere. A beautifully designed place with great food, thoughtful details and genuinely welcoming staff.

I had an exceptional stay at Animals. From the moment I arrived, the level of care and attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the experience. The property itself is absolutely stunning, beautifully designed, impeccably maintained, and full of thoughtful touches that made it feel truly special.

Every team member was warm, attentive, and genuinely committed to making my stay as comfortable as possible. Their thoughtfulness and hospitality went above and beyond expectations.

I was also incredibly grateful for their flexibility with my check-out time, which made a huge difference and was handled with such kindness and understanding.

I never write reviews, but I think this is the perfect time to do so. This is genuinely the best hotel I have ever stayed at — from the facilities and rooms to the food, service and staff.

My partner and I stayed here for a total of 8 nights, and the staff made it an experience we will never forget. I will definitely be coming back.

I think the world should look at Animals Boutique Hotel as a standard to replicate when it comes to the level of service they provide.

As for the food, my partner and I ate out at a few different restaurants earlier in the trip, but quickly found that the restaurant at Animals Hotel was not comparable. The breakfast, lunch and dinner service was top quality, and they quickly adapted to any requests we had. I can guarantee you will find this out after your first meal here.

We were lucky enough to meet the owners during our stay, who were very welcoming and able to provide some great recommendations around Ahangama. They were very personable and made us feel at home.

As I said, I never write reviews, but Animals Boutique Hotel definitely deserved this one.

I loved my stay at Animals - we travelled off-season, so we had the whole place to ourselves. It's super clean, the rooms are well looked after, and I love the clean design. The pool area is lovely to just relax and do nothing. Perfect for a girl's trip (I love all the pink everywhere :D Staff is super helpful (thank you, Nalin!) and even though the property is a few minutes away from the main Ahangama street where all the bars are, it's easy to get a tuk-tuk on Pick Me. If you plan to get back to the villa late at night, I'd recommend memorising the route back as it gets dark in the area and Google Maps can be slightly off track.
All in all, if you're looking for something that's slightly away from the main street and nice and quiet and clean, this is a great choice - also the showers are amazing.

The atmosphere was lovely and relaxing, making it the perfect place to unwind. Our room was spacious, stylish and very comfortable giving us everything we needed for a great stay. The breakfast was delicious and we also enjoyed a lovely meal the night before. The food, service and overall experience exceeded our expectations.

We loved it.

It is a very cozy, stylish and cute smaller place and space which I really like. I have been there for the second time. The atmosphere is more private and very personal. The staff members were very friendly, professional and the food has a proper quality (homemade granola, vegan options and Sri Lankan food on the menu card as well) as I can only write about the breakfast.

It was for sure more than expected and the best thing was that the staff was very efficient and friendly and very concerned on every detail during our stay. Apart from all the food was fab. The stay was worth the pay. Will comeback again for sure ❤️
