Value for money given the location.
Breakfast can be improved. Lack of variety, simple with scrambled eggs and a few toasts. Not Japanese.
We loved our stay here. This was our most unique stay so far. We loved the town, skiing, onsens and the hotel. I was not overly excited about not having an ensuite, but it was actually fine. I already miss Nozawa and will absolutely go back here if I ever find myself back in Japan!
One of the bed mats was much less padded than the others (we had a family of 4, so two rooms) and it made for a less comfortable sleep…
Yamane is very close tot the village center and restaurants. There is a shuttle bus to gondola, although we went on foot every morning. It is 1 km uphill walk, so works well as a warm up for skiing. We rented skis right next to the gondola and left gear there overnight which was very convenient.
Breakfast was excellent. Roo.s were typical traditional Japanese style rooms.
Yamane owner and staff are great! Kind and knowledgable. Overall, we had an excellent stay! Strongly recommended.

The walls are thin so when other guests used the shared bathroom and were talking it was pretty disturbing & kept us up at times

Staff was super kind and helpful. Good position, about a 15-20 min walk from gondola (it’s better to leave ski equipment at some rental near the gondolas) and right next to an Onsen.
Bathroom was extremely small. The room had no curtains so no way to block light. Breakfast was ok but with very limited variety.
Staff can speak fluent English and very helpful with all sorts of questions for someone is not familiar with this area.
It’s an old hotel and maybe if possible. The facilities can be renovated in the future. However, in general, I am quite happy with my stay.
Perfect lodge for my dad and I skiing in Nozawa. Right next to a beautiful public Onsen and a complimentary shuttle up in the morning made it easy for the old boy. The staff were so friendly and really made the trip for us. We felt so welcome.
