Pros:

A stunning villa overlooking the Maha Oya river, with a beautiful pool and an atmosphere that stays with you. The rooms are immaculate, spotlessly clean and luxurious, with thoughtful attention to every detail.

What truly made it special, though, was the hospitality. As we had an evening flight, they kindly allowed us a late check-out, and we happily spent extra hours in this peaceful haven with no rush at all. We were also lucky enough to speak with the owner, who was moved to tears telling us about his love for this project, for Sri Lanka, and for his staff, whom he considers true family — and you feel that warmth throughout the stay.

A special thank you goes to Harsha, who looked after us perfectly from start to finish, but the entire staff was kind and attentive. We also tried the massage, which was excellent, and the meals — both breakfast and dinner — were delicious.

A place we recommend with all our heart. We will definitely be back.

Two of the younger male staff members used the contact information we provided at check in to try to add us on instagram and send inappropriate messages on Whatsapp. As two women staying here, this was very uncomfortable and felt like a violation of privacy

While the villa was nice and comfortable, but the location was a little secluded and isolated.
Pros:

The property was neat, clean and comfortable. The staff were younger family members of the hosts and were helpful and accommodating given our late arrival to the property.

Cons:

The location of the property was out of the way and much more isolated than I expected.

A relaxing and welcoming place to stay.
Pros:

The private pool and the view from it was fantastic. The staff were helpful and we loved the extra effort they made to include us in their New Years celebrations.

Prachtige accomodatie. Dikke aanrader.

Prachtige uitzicht over de rivier.
Heerlijk en schoon zwembad en hele mooie villa's.
De after flight massage was de beste die we ooit gehad hebben. Aanrader.
Ontbijt was heerlijk en wordt vers bereid.

Waterland - ein traumhaftes Stück Land direkt am Wasser

Das aussergewöhnliche Hotel Waterland liegt ausserhalb des hektischen Negombo an bester Lage gut versteckt inmitten eines kleinen Fischerquartiers direkt bei der Einmündung eines holländischen Kanals in den River Maha Oya. Es ist ein Eintauchen in eine exotische und verwinkelte Welt voller orientalischer Requisiten und einem tropischen Pflanzengarten. Direkt neben der offenen Küche an einem langen Esstisch wenige Meter neben dem Wasser sitzend, vermittelt das ausgezeichnete Essen und der Moment des Seins eine Welt, die man nicht mehr missen möchte.

Last day in Sri Lanka before flying home.
Pros:

The room set up with personal pool and seating area was lovely . Quirky bathroom with fish pedicure pool and great shower.Also wife really enjoyed having a fantastic preflight massage in room and lucky enough to see the fruit bats flying overhead whilst we had our dinner.

Cons:

Only thing we would point out is the tiled steps down into the pool were very slippy , so just be careful.

Fantastic staff and lovely place
Pros:

Wonderful staff who were very helpful and kind. Brilliant English also. Nice breakfast and pool was nice and clean. Good location where you can look over the river and see birds during the day and bats at night.

Cons:

The food was nice and i’ve given full marks, would recommend and stay again. However a shame they don’t do any sort of Sri Lankan curry on the dinner menu which is mostly western.
