Beautiful independent boutique hotel. Room was gorgeous. Staff were lovely. Food was amazing.
Room was amazing. It was very clean and finished to a high standard.
The bath in the room was lovely and the shower was great.
It had a fan to cool the room and tea and coffee making facilities
Someone explaining how the tv, coffee machine worked, as well as how to get hot water from the bath - this took a while to figure out!
Checking in was a bit of a faff as no keys and use of codes - but you needed to wait for them to set this up and then try them out. You had to wait for emails - just made the check in process a bit annoying.
Couldn't get TV channels to work
No staff available after 10 o'clock and no breakfast offered / available - for the price of the room not offering breakfast is not great -wasn't made aware of this when booking or when checking in. I had to ask about it to then be told they don't do breakfast.
Unique interior design of the bedroom, that would make you want to stay longer
Stairs to steep. Not serving breakfast.
Clean and next day location nearby
Nothing
Great property in quiet and pleasant area. Well maintained with loads of character.
Stairs up to our amazing room which were rather on the steep side. First floor access was fine. No Breakfast but not a problem as the next property had a bistro/caffe that adjoined the hotels garden.
Location and size of room are the positives
No hangers in wardrobe (two used for robes). No little snacks. Shower leaked all over the bathroom
The hotel was in a lovely part of Birmingham, the car park was locked overnight with key code access. It was a short taxi ride to the main areas in the city (super cheap Uber, less than £7).
It was quiet at night (apart from the occupants leaving the room opposite). The rooms were fabulous, The Decor was quirky and individual. It had a lovely little cocktail bar and restaurant at the location with a lovely coffee shop next door.
The roll top bath was an added treat along with a shower and separate toilet. So much attention to detail.
It isn’t staffed overnight, so if there was a problem, you have to make contact with the night Porter.
We had no milk in the room, which meant we couldn’t have tea (wasn’t worth contacting the night Porter for, but frustrating all the same). The TV remote didn’t work, I was unable to adjust the sound, it was far too loud for the time of night.
There was no free bottled water in the room, you had to purchase it for £6. It was also quite stuffy without Aircon. That being told these are only minor issues and would absolutely stay at this location again. It would be handy to have more staff as they seem to be run ragged doing lots of different things. the Hotel doesn’t serve breakfast but there is an amazing little café next door that I completely recommend.
If you stay in the Marco Polo room and Babylon, they are on the third floor so if you struggle with stairs, it might not be for you.
Tasting experience was really good. Room excellent
Communication between staff.
Room looked fantastic. The Scottish manager was brilliant. He was so friendly. He's a credit to the hotel
Nothing.
Very nice room, good restaurant.
Took 10 minutes to find someone to check-in. No physical door key, you need to download an email, then download an app to unlock the front door and room which was a faff as I didn’t have reception inside the building.
The decor and the lovely room we stayed in Babylon, greeted by Chris at reception who was very helpful and friendly
