no breakfast or evening meal available

Style won out over substance. Very little practicality. Insufficient seating. Kettle broken and no replacement available. Fridge not working. Room not made up even though we were out all day was told that we hadn’t put a card in the door but nor did we hang a do not disturb sign and they could tell the room was empty when they came to remove the broken kettle.

Staff fairly useless. Absolutely no value for money.

I paid for the Alexander room for my partners birthday treat, specifically because it has the steam room. It did not work. I originally asked for a refund when offered a resolution but this proved difficult due to booking through booking.com so we chose to return. However, the steam room still did not work upon our return. We were not informed beforehand, if we had been I would have happily picked a different room.
The fridge was also not cold at all which I think they were aware of as there was not even milk in it to make a cup of tea. In addition, it seemed the previous guests crumbs were left in the empty glass stand that should have housed the complimentary biscuits to go with said tea.
The shower also would not drain, causing the bathroom to flood so we were relocated the following morning to another room to use the shower. The hospitality the second time round was not bad, but quite different to the first stay. I did get an email after asking for feedback. I replied informing them of all of this and am yet to receive a response.

Requested late check out which was approved prior to arrival and reminded on check in however housekeeping staff still asked to leave earlier than arranged which was strange maybe they just need better communication with housekeeping staff when late check outs have been requested

Very warm in reception and corridors and our room “BABYLON” was cold, the radiator by radiator was only slightly warm. As soon as walked into room the change in temperature was apparent so I went back to reception and the kind lady come upto the room with us and adjusted the radiator setting of which we were told it should get warm in around 15 minutes - it didn’t as didn’t make a difference and we had to leave the shower closet door open to get abit of heating from towel rail which didn’t make a difference. We both had to take a hot bath to warm us up. I appreciate the room is on the top floor however we got more heat from the restaurant we attended elsewhere - I have reported the feedback to reception on checkout, I suggest a couple of heaters are put in that room and I did request a heater when first went to reception - very disappointed with this room as we were expecting that the correct heating temperature should be provided as standard in a luxury setting and I must say now we both have the start of a cold.

The bath was dirty (greasy) and we had to wash it first when we used it at night and after desk coverage was closed.

Furthermore the PIR lights/fan for both the shower and the toilet are set to too long to switch off, and the shower has an annoying subtle green lighting that remains on and kept we awake for too long, as the glass shower door clearly doesn’t prevent light. A first world problem but annoying.

Both the above were reported next day with very little humility or customer focus.

And finally paid in full as per Booking.com terms and card given for deposit was in fact deducted again for the full fee and it took my complaint to seek the refund which we did receive.
