My first time in this hotel but everything as good as ever with Premier Inn: free parking, friendly staff, decent room, great breakfast, excellent value. Chatted with the manager (didn’t get his name) who is doing a top job - thanks very much
Not good, you really need to also read Trustpilot reviews of this hotel chain.
Shabby decor, tiny room with an EXTRA BED, and no space therefore for a chair, why?
Old rooms, not matching website images, assuming Premier Plus company preferred choice you make, I have use one before barely worth the extra, still only 1 armchair but extra “ useless” items.
Hotel lovely, rooms clean and cosy, check in wasn’t great, we arrived after 3pm as requested. To be told our room wasn’t ready & was told to wait and they would come & get us, which they didn’t, and they were checking other guests in, we were sat waiting over 1/2 hour so I went up & asked was it ready yet, which they said it was no apology or explanation as to why they hadn’t come to get us. breakfast good but fried eggs were over cooked, rubbery. Evening meal was gorgeous
The hotel was a little way out of Harrogate but I chose this Premier Inn so I could have safe parking. Due to time issues we didn't walk into town but Uber taxis were easy to book and cheap enough. The staff were really friendly and helpful and seemed happy doing their job which made us feel very welcome. The room was very clean, spacious and the bed was very comfortable. We did have a noise issue during the night but the problem was solved the next day.
We have stayed in many Premier Inns and this was the worst quality for a long time. We had booked Premier Plus for some ‘additional comforts but we’re disappointed.
The hotel was very quiet so no excuses about the room which was allocated.
The room has not been maintained well. The side lamp next to the bed was missing on one side. The toilet roll holder was loose.
The complimentary chocolates had not been left.
The additional pillows - the bag was not sealed (as normal in other Premier Inns) and when we opened it one of the pillows did not have a pillowcase on it
One of the bath towels had two big holes in it.
The worst was that we were kept awake during the night by a constant high pitched noise from the fan, which did not turn off as would normally be the case once the light was switched off.
On leaving the hotel there was no-one around to report these issues to.
This Premier Plus room was not worth the money and needs some immediate attention.
Long story, but because of travel delays, we (my husband & me) arrived, hungry and thirsty, for our 8pm restaurant booking some time after 9pm.
Bar staff Asha and Anushtina were the first to help. Asha checked with kitchen while Anushtina sorted out our drinks and listened to our travel woes.
The kitchen had closed for the evening, but when Asha explained our situation, Chef Hannah made us a meal that was just right, with no fuss about it at all.
We were impressed by their friendly but professional manner and efficient approach.
A real team effort. Thanks Team!!
Warm welcome.
Room was poor considering it was a premier plus room. Felt it hadn't been properly cleaned.
Short staff in restaurant so service was slow and meals pretty basic. However staff did their best and were very pleasant under the circumstances
We have stayed many times but this time was not good. The adjoining pub restaurant has closed for conversion to rooms. Replaced with a small soulless room in side the hotel. So there is now nowhere to chill and have a drink or coffee on arrival. Key items were missing from breakfast over the whole 3 day stay. We asked for refunds of the cost of breakfast. There were not enough staff and no visible managers monitoring the situation. It has lost it's vibrancy and identity due to the pub restaurant closure which used to compensate for the out of town location. We will almost certainly look elsewhere after many years of using this Premier Inn as a result.
Been a house keeper myself i do check Mucky widows , spider webs on ceiling always strip beds to help out there was mucky mattress proctors. Never again
First impressions were good from the outside. Great free parking facilities which is why we chose this location. The minute we walked into the hotel the musky smell hit us.
The guy at reception was on his mobile phone but hung up to check us in after about a minute. He was very pleasant and helpful when checking us in.
When we walked into our room (115) that horrible smell hit us again. It was like a sour/damp smell. The dust was thick on the skirting boards and there was black mould around the tiles and the bath.
I wouldn't rush back to this hotel...
We have stayed at the Premier Inn, Harrogate South, a total of five times, including this time. We almost didn't book to stay this time, after reading a few recent bad reviews, but for the sake of convenience, thought we would risk it.
We were disappointed on arrival to fine that some of the negative feedback from other guests had not been dealt with. We found the reception area rather uninviting, with rubbish lying on the floor. One of our rooms was made up as a double instead of a twin. There was also only one set of towels in this room. And the heating unit in the double room was not working.
We immediately talked to the staff member on duty (Anhar), who initially, whilst very apologetic, blamed it on the staff on the previous shift. I explained to him that I was not interested in where any blame lay. In our opinion, Premier Inn as a whole should take responsibility to provide guests with exceptional service. Anhar took this on board and was extremely responsive in sorting out the issues that we had.
Pros:-
We have stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions in the past and have always been satisfied. We use it has a base when going to York races.
Hornbeam Park is situated next to the railway station and trains are approx. every half hour to York or Leeds. £4.90 for 2 people return to Harrogate, 2-minute train journey. Far cheaper than taxi.
The rooms were typical PI. At the end of the day all we needed was a clean basic room, with shower and bed.
All the staff were friendly and helpful. Couldn't fault any of them.
Plenty of free parking.
We will certainly carry on using this hotel.
Cons:-
Wfii is very slow. Powered iPad okay but struggled with laptop.
The previous large adjoining pub/restaurant is now closed and is being made into rooms. The new "Social" restaurant doesn't seat many, so you have to book. It is about a quarter of the size of the previous restaurant. I don't know why they have done this??!! I can't comment on the menu etc. has we didn't eat in the bar.
Rooms exactly what you expect from a Premier Inn, however, avoid the bar/restaurant at all costs. Restaurant is under-staffed and under-trained. One young waitress trying her best, but zero support, which led to orders being backed up in the kitchen. Waited 30 mins before I got a drink (which I had to go to the bar and ask for again). When the food arrived it was terrible. Driest sirloin steak ever seen, the accompanying sauce which was ordered, didn't arrive and they somehow managed to burn some of the fries. At one point the waitress was so flustered she came and asked if I wanted to pay, but I hadn't even received any food. I then had to repeat the order. The hotel night porter was even trying to support the restaurant. Complete chaos and lack of supervision/professionalism from Premier Inn.
Great meal and enjoyed drinks, even when short staffed quality doesn’t suffer. No doubt even better when fully staffed. Will be here again when working in this area.
Very nice hotel comfortable bed and room was clean and tidy very handy for the train station to visit or towns and City's we will stop there again pity the did not do special offers for regular guests staff very polite too . the restaurant needs to be up and running properly by now we are regular guests
After reading the previous reviews we did not have very high expectations of this particular Premier Inn. However, the welcome from the Receptionist was warm and they helped us find a suitable place to go in the evening for a drink as the restaurant on site was closed due to refurbishment. Room was comfortable, parking was fine.
As all the other hotels were more or less booked, this was our only option but boy do we regret coming here. Upon check in and then checking out the hotel room, did we discover that our room was on ground floor and had a connecting door. We didn't feel safe and could see that the car park was very quiet and asked the hotel receptionist whether we could move upstairs. We prefer a 1st floor as a minimum for peace of mind but the employee said there were no available rooms upstairs. We questioned that as there was not a single noise upstairs all night in our allocated room. So we were lied to on that. On the connecting door front, we did ask if we could at least move to any other room that didn't have a connecting door - again, simply for peace of mind. The employee's response? "Did you check if it opened? All you need to do is turn the knob, That's how you know if it's open or not". What an absolutely unnecessary and snarky comment to make against what was a simple request. That guy seriously needs re-training. On top of this, the hotel room we were given was incredibly dusty. Extremely stuffy - and because we were allocated to stay on ground floor - we couldn't possibly leave the window open for safety reasons. We were provided with a fan, but all it did was move the hot air around. Had terrible sleep here and I ended up feeling sick and with what felt like a blocked head similar to cold due to the stuffy atmosphere. The towels were flithy as well and only had two without any spares. Hardly any toilet paper. The shower and toilet smelt like mold. It was just nasty. Really can't recommend this to anyone.
The hotel reception in question was working certainly on Friday 26th September after 7pm. You need to send him away for proper training - he's dealt with polite customers in a very snarky and insensitive manner. It was clear we were not the only ones who did not have a problem with this man.
We have stayed in many Premier Inn locations, from Scotland to the Isle of Wight. Nine last year and around half a dozen this year. We try to book Premier Plus rooms because of the extra comfort and facilities. This one was of the usual comfortable, high standard. A special mention must be given to the excellent customer service provided by David, the chap on reception, who was most helpful
Ten minutes away from Knaresborough, a beautiful town with lot’s of history, with lots of places to eat and drink. We recommend this as a great base from which to explore the surrounding area
Usually use Premier inns with no issues so a tad disappointed with today's experience. Waited a while on arrival for a colleague to book me in. Looked like he was multi tasking so not his fault. Had to pay on my card as he couldn't release my key as they hadn't had payment even though I had an email confirmation that the room had been booked direct from my head office. This meant no tea or breakfast voucher so something else to claim back manually. Restaurant next door looked like it was closing down with loads of signs apologising for beer taps not being available so swerved that one and had a tuna sandwich, yay. Them I thought I would watch the footy on my laptop, forget that, the broadband was less tham 1mb and the premium was only 8mb so not worth the risk. Even the TV had a lag of 20 seconds for the channels to change. Phone signal also hit and miss and that was using Id and EE. The room was ok. Overall, not the usual Premier inn experience I'm used to. 🙄
Usual Premier inn pleasant room. In quiet location. Staff helpful. I booked last minute on a Saturday night and only availability was a premier plus room which wasn’t worth the extra money but very comfortable
