Recently stayed here and couldn't really fault it. A big thank you to Steph, Lucien and Stephen who couldn't have been more friendly and helpful.
Decided to go for the first time a trip to Harrogate to see the Stylistics with my mum. I would say overall it was a ok stay. The staff were friendly, breakfast was fine. However, this hotel does need proper management support and requirement of more staff to get the place back to a high standard. They also need to invest in decor and maintaince as it is run down. You can tell this is affecting staff morale. Also, the cleaning in the hotel is poor with dust, dirty floors in corridors and the lift. I also had a little poo stain on my toilet when I arrived in the room.
However I would like to say a big thank you to Tim and Kade, they have made our stay very welcoming and friendly. They are an assest to the team and have made up for all the little mistakes.
Great stay at the Premier Inn in Harrogate. Rooms were a decent size, nice and clean with very comfy beds. Lovely quiet hotel so slept really well. Good choice of evening meals and breakfast also had a good choice. Staff here are very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Two members of staff really stood out. Both Tim and Haydn went above and beyond, what a great asset these two members of staff are. Would highly recommend staying here, it’s in a central position so a 5 minute walk to the town centre
Before I check out this morning I thought I would post my review. My husband and I have stayed for 2 nights and booked a premier plus room. The 4 th floor room has everything you may need, fabulous shower, white towels and great view. We thought we would pay for breakfast at the hotel on our 2nd morning which is today only to find both lifts out of order so had to walk down 4 flights of stairs to the restaurant. We were asked for our room number which was 408 only to be told that we were not booked in for breakfast but as a gesture of good will and the lift situation they would honour our breakfast. I insisted that we had paid for this, how embarrassing we felt. Sorry your not on the restaurant list but go through!!
The breakfast was absolutely dreadful, everything and I mean everything was overcooked and hard to cut, there was no soft bread only hard stale pieces, no orange juice, just dire.
My husband and I were mortified just how the morning was unfolding and embarrassingly left to walk back up the 4 flights of stairs back to our room having managed to eat a very small amount and couldn’t wait to leave. Before we did, I checked my bank and we had paid the £21.98 for this appalling breakfast and all the embarrassment that we felt at the restaurant entrance. Absolutely appalling service for a Premier Inn.
There was one bath towel and one hand towel, with hole, for 2 people. No glass in bathroom. There were no grab rails, I couldn't use the shower over the bath. The corridor was dirty, looked as though it hadn t been hoovered in a week. Bags of dirty linen in the corridor at 5pm.
The receptionist did bring some refill milk to our room. But we were refused breakfast as they couldn't open the till!
Booked a twin room and was given a premier plus double. They insisted it was booked as a premier, even though our paperwork said not. Only one lift working they insisted a premium room has extras, but in all honesty the ordinary rooms are more preferential. Had to share the bed when we wanted a twin .
Dined in the restaurant, what a fiasco. Booked a meal for 5.30pm. Arrived, couldn’t find anyone to book us in, then was informed that the meals didn’t get served until 6pm. The meal when it arrived was cold and not edible. They took it away and said they would replace. We then waited for over an hour for the meal to arrive. It wasn’t much better. Finally left the restaurant nearly two hours later and was not impressed. Won’t be booking this premier inn again.
Stayed here 3 times previously and always enjoyed and this time went with friends who hadn’t previously been.
On the first night chef hadn’t turned up so had to go in the pouring rain to find an alternative restaurant.
On the second night arranged to stay in because of awful weather. Restaurant very quiet and we may have been the only ones dining. No sea bass and we all decided on fish and chips. 45 minute wait and meals arrived, chips and mushy peas cold and hard to believe but no vinegar in
the hotel also bread and butter ordered turned out o be cold toast. No replacements provided and then told no desserts at all. Drink on the house offered but manager missing the
point we hadn’t had a proper meal and neither was a replacement or refund offered. Had to leave the restaurant hungry.
Retired to the bar to play cards asked for drinks but when requested a Pernod were told “we are a hotel not a bar.” No heating in the bar area and had to ask for it to be put on.
Obvious staffing problems in the hotel which was made clear to us and the fact they had to draft a manager in from another Premier Inn.
Spoke to guest relations and offered a voucher for Brewers Fayre or Beefeater,
none of which were of use as the nearest ones from our homes were almost 20 miles
away.
A wasted short break.

First off I thought the staff were very good BUT there were too few of them on duty on Friday and Saturday. I had dirty towels left in my bath and the tv remote took a number of coming and going from the member of staff before one finally worked. There was no Sunday service on the evening in the restaurant because of a seeming problem with getting a chef. I was not the only guest to complain about the housekeeping over the weekend.
The only thing I can say is it was awful! from the minute I got there, bar, food, drinks, cleanliness and service. followed up by a complaint that nobody got back to me with
Premier Inn what's happened to you? This hotel has cold rooms, cold meals, and slow almost non-existent service. I'd advise anyone to give this so-called, 'Premier' Inn a miss. So sad that things have come to this. I've previously stayed at many other Premier Inns and enjoyed it. I'll give Premier Inns a miss in future.
Due to staffing issues we had a long wait to get checked in. Ian was great although a bit stressed - The room was great and the bed super comfy. The breakfast was very good apart from the beans which needed quicker replenishment. The staff were great. The location was good with a short work into town
Dirty room, barely any staff.
Breakfast disappointing as kept warm for a long time, and only one egg left when we went down at 8.30.
We had to ask the receptionist to get more! The coffee machine was not working.
Location was fine and the beds were the usual quality, but - by and large- it was a disappointing experience.
Worst experience I've had at a premiere inn. Parking was non-existant in a very busy town. Faulty lights in the room, which was met with the solution "I don't know what to do". Bar pumps were broken so no quiet pint on the evening. Worst of all, we went to breakfast only to be told the chef hadn't turned up so continental breakfast only. I book with premiere Inn expecting a minimum level of service. But seemingly this hotel only has 2 staff to run the entire building with very poor maintenance provision.
Firstly the positives: The room was clean and quiet, the bed and pillows very comfy. The location is ideal for the Convention Centre. However, regrettably the total lack of staff let it down badly. For example, the automatic check in wasn't working. Those staff who were there were very friendly and helpful, and doing their best, but were so rushed off their feet, trying to do everything, reception one minute, bar the next, chasing up breakfast etc. One morning we went down for breakfast and couldn't find a seat because so many tables had not been cleared. Out of the 3 nights we were there, a hot breakfast was only available on day one. Day two the chef was late arriving and day 3 they hadn't turned up at all. Rooms weren't cheap, then you pay extra for breakfast, plus parking for 4 nights cost £40. Sorry but we will be going elsewhere next year.
Very friendly and helpful staff, Accessible room very good, accessible parking very good.
Excellent location for the Conference centre and the Town centre.
Breakfast was good but required replenishing (only one sausage left).
On arrival nobody at check-in just a note on a scrap of paper saying back in 10 minutes but nobody arrived.
Used the card to gain access but doors opened with out them which is worrying as no security.
Curtain falling down in room, cups dirty, carpets dirty, corridors not clean. My daughter found a hot water bottle in her bed? Nails on the carpet.
Not good at all been using this Premier inn for years. They need more staff as its run down such a shame for the staff who are doing there best.
Two days before travelling to Harrogate for a holiday between 5th-8th October, I had several misgivings about my choice of hotel due to the negative reviews posted online, late September 2025.
Entering the hotel these were my first impressions- a large trolley piled high with bags of fresh towels and loo rolls stood next to the reception desk where several notices apologised that the self-service check-in screens were currently “out of order”. I was quickly advised that our room was not ready. My shoulders must have visibly sagged because Ian Vassey, the Duty Manager, and Alex quickly turned the situation on its head with their positivity and commendable customer service.
My husband and I received a complimentary drink whilst waiting (only several minutes as it turned out) for room service to finish preparing our accommodation.
Our spacious Premier Plus room (overlooking the Majestic Hotel gardens) was very clean and all appliances worked. Comfortable bed too and an excellent choice of ambient lighting.I appreciated the selection of teas,a coffee machine and chilled complimentary water in a small fridge.
We did not dine on the evening of our arrival (as the restaurant was sadly closed) but were spoilt for choice of excellent nearby eateries just minutes away by taxi or a ten minute walk.
The self service breakfast was plentiful and enjoyed in the small but airy area of the restaurant overlooking gardens- squirrel lovers would be delighted ! I asked for plates to be heated which was quickly arranged.
The staff throughout our stay were attentive and helpful (including one or two quirky characters!).My thanks to dog loving Laura. I was saddened to read signage reminding customers about respect. Be kind. Treat the staff as you wish to be treated yourself.
There are obviously staffing issues (shortages) and yes, areas could be refreshed and others refurbished, but I have based this review on my personal experience. The accommodation was extremely good value and the upgrade to Premier Plus well worth the extra premium. I would not hesitate to return to The Premier Inn in Harrogate.
The pillows are too high and it smells of cheap air freshener. What about people who have allergies? They should use organic non chemical products to clean the rooms. The cost of parking is also high.
Been using this hotel for 10 years and still our choice of venue to stay in. The rooms are always clean and presentable. However there are a few little things that all add up. The check in was a farce, but we eventually got to our room. A few rips in the carpet, one double socket didnt work, there was a light switch that didnt have a switch..I later found it on the floor and replaced it myself. The new card system didnt work and we had no electricity in the room for 30 mins till i realised the card holder wasnt fitted properly. again, i fixed it myself.
One thing that is worrying was the card also opened the room next door.
Tried to report this to staff but no one on reception.
One Lady resident was in reception wanting to speak to staff and was really upset at something but again, there was no one there.
Seems to be a distinct lack of staff.
Just little things but they all add up and some people will not return.
We treat the place as a base and nothing else so we will return next year but Premier inn need to sort some of these problems out.....and please get some staff that are approachable!!!
Standards have certainly slipped here. Room not ready when we arrived after 4pm. Check-in took more than an hour. When we got to the room the door was wide open, beds not made up and cleaning not finished. Breakfast the first morning was complete carnage. No staff. No food. No clean table. Dirty dishes everywhere. Food eventually arrived 20 minutes later. Utter shambles.
Brief redemption on second morning when an excellent woman was in charge. Fully stocked breakfast and immaculate tables. Better late than never.
Would not recommend. Must do better Premier Inn ! Get it sorted
